Talk-radio giant Rush Limbaugh will reportedly join Katie Couric this week on the CBS Evening News to help launch the former "Today" show host in her new duties as anchor at the Tiffany network.
"I'm trying to figure out how to turn my TV back on," said Internet reporter Matt Drudge on his national radio show tonight, as he broke the news of Limbaugh's participation. "Will you tune in to watch this? Because I will."
"For them to bring in talk radio's top personality in the backdrop of all this – that Katie is a liberal, she is an acknowledged liberal," said Drudge, "this guy (Limbaugh) is at the top of the media pyramid. ... Limbaugh's been king for at least a decade. What has taken so long for them to bring him into this?"
Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, broadcast legend Walter Cronkite, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and TV commentator Bill Maher are said to be other major personalities slated for "guest editorials" during the initial broadcasts with Couric.
"This is quite a master stroke. You have underestimated Katie Couric," said Drudge. "She is now bringing in people we want to hear from. How long until she declares World War III?"
Drudge clowned what else might be in store for the opening moments of Couric on CBS.
"Is Katie actually doing a pap smear on the CBS Evening News for opening night, too?"
Rush will have her for lunch. This should be good. I wonder how long it will take before he calls here a looney leftist femmenazi?
I'm sure it's a one-shot invite... just to stimulate ratings.
Who could have imagined the author of the Drive By media phrase is out there sucking up to Katie.

Remember Rush saying years ago that Republicans should not think that the could be liked by liberal media types like Katie and should keep their distance because the liberals were just planning ambushes.

"Commentator" Bill Maher is to be another guest. Goody. He was on Larry King the other night pontificating about how GWB is not a smart man, and next time we need a president who is "very bright." Duh. I could not help thinking WHY in God's name should anyone give a rat's behind what this guy thinks about anything!
Hmmm... wouldn't that be a spectable. Is there a place where we can write as suggested guests? Hey, Anyone know if these guests are going to be in a free-wheeling discussion with Kewpie, or is it just a 3 minute opinion-spouting segment?
If not, they will kick him off for something he says in short order.
Yeah, Katie is too old for Rush. She's a haggard gray haired lady who's polished with all the fixins.
Rush should get himself a nice girl from Europe or anywhere that women aren't brainwashed into competing with men.
We shoudl ask Maher to run for office... get some investigative reporters to look into his life and dealings... :-)
They are all media and political professionals. As such they will get along just fine. They might even go out to dinner afterwards.

That is true for most people but there is no "ambushing" Rush Limbaugh.
Katie will be grinning through clenched gums as she remembers the number of times El Rushbo referred to her as `the very perky Mzzz Couric'
Maharushie could turn out to be the you-know-what in the punchbowl at this shindig.
I think it might be Katie doing the "sucking"....she has a formidable task in building her ratings and it looks like she would need all the help she could get. I can't believe Rush is doing this just out of the kindness of his heart!
