Germaine, try this for size
The Daily Telegraph (Australia) ^ | 9 Sept. 2006 | Luke McIlveen

Posted on 09/08/2006 6:26:42 PM PDT by Kitten Festival

THIS is the muzzle The Daily Telegraph has sent to batty loudmouth Germaine Greer on behalf of all Australians furious over her comments about Steve Irwin.

Today The Daily Telegraph calls on all Crocodile Hunter fans to tell the controversial academic exactly how they feel - and ... this afternoon we can also publish a new address to contact her.

Greer raised the ire of a nation this week when she made the bizarre claims that the animal world had taken "revenge" on Steve Irwin when he died tragically from a sting ray attack in northern Queensland.

A furious Queensland Premier Peter Beattie said Greer should "back off" and keep her "stupid" comments to herself.

"Germaine Greer is just wrong and I just can't imagine anyone being more insensitive and, frankly, stupid. This argument is just extreme radical rubbish from Germaine Greer," he said.

Readers flooded The Daily Telegraph website yesterday to express their outrage.

"Steve Irwin has made the world aware of the animal conservation and opened our eyes to the many beauties of the animal kingdom," web reader Brad Chong said yesterday. ...

Donna Renee of Cornell wrote: "Why is she allowed to write such rubbish? I believe her words are born of jealousy. Steve Irwin won the love and respect of millions of people world-wide, myself included. Yes, she will die a sad, lonely old woman and who will care when she does bite the dust?" ...

Greer followed up her Irwin claim by mocking Australians who mourned his death, saying they were "idiots".

Tell Germaine Greer what you think of her comments on Steve Irwin.

Women like Greer baffle me. Even if she thought this, why did she feel it was so damn important to SHARE it?

"Germaine Greer. Just because you own half the town doesn't mean that you have the power to run the rest of us. For twenty-three years I've been dying to tell you what I thought of you! And now... well, being a Christian woman, I can't say it!" ~ Auntie Em

You know, I saw that headline, and as offensive as I found her remarks, I was expecting an illustration that showed something other than a muzzle...something large, latex and lifelike, if you catch my drift.

What I get from this demented attack is that we should just leave the animals alone and let them fend for themselves.

Obviously showing them in their habitat is cruel and abu grave type punishment! /S

Woman is a total idiot.

Irwin took unnecessary chances and it finally caught up with him.

Its a tragedy for him and his family and his many fans and viewers.

But he DID contribute a lot towards conservation and interest in endangered species which is more than I can say for this vicious harridan.

Let's get something straight.
First, agreed, Greer is an imbecile.
Second, Steve was not killed because he did anything dangerous. He was snorkling normally, following a stingray. Suddenly, a much larger stingray burst from the sand where it was hidden. It darted between Steve and his cameraman and panicked, striking Steve with its tail. The identical same incident could have occured between two 80 yr olds snorkling quietly in 4 feet of water.

Perhaps.

But I have seen enough of his shows to know that he pushed the buttons too much for dangerous shots.

The shot with him holding his kid while feeding the croc for instance.

Have you worked with large crocodilians? I have.

For a short distance on land they can outrun a man - that meant he was putting his kid in very serious danger. They are also incredibly intelligent for reptiles and extremely unpredictable.

I liked the guy and regret his death. It was unfortunate. His shows entertained many and got many a kid interested in reptiles and brought a lot of joy into many otherwise dull lives.

I hope he's in a happier place.

For the same bloody reason several vicious vipers even Steve wouldn't have wanted to tangle with that keep posting on every thread that has anything to do with him.

To get attention.
