The official line is that Serbia was bombed because of the "genocide" she was, allegedly, carrying out. When it turned out that there was no genocide going on, then the justification for the aggression evolved into "preventing genocide from happening."

Serbia was bombed for entirely different reasons. Washington & London knew full well that the genocide story was bullshit (they came up with it, after all) and that Serbian atrocities were either exaggerated or completely fabricated. Not only that, but they knew even better what the KLA were (a bunch of church-burning, nun-raping, drug-running, white slavery cave dwellers). The State Dept. had them blacklisted before the Serbian police even lifted a finger.

Somehow, over the following 5 months, the KLA evolved into a noble bunch of helpless farmers trying to defend their families.

Gen. L. McKenzie (Canadian Forces, Ret.) said back in 2004:

Those of us who warned that the West was being sucked in on the side of an extremist, militant, Kosovo-Albanian independence movement were dismissed as appeasers. The fact that the lead organization spearheading the fight for independence, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), was universally designated a terrorist organization and known to be receiving support from Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda was conveniently ignored.

So, Hoppie, my question is: Why was the link ignored? Most probably because someone thought the price was worth paying - and we all know what the cost was... and how heavy it was. We marked the 5th anniversary just a couple of days ago.

Serbia was the primary victim of the West's campaign of lies and deceit (and consequently something much worse), but some 3,000 innocent Americans paid the ultimate price, too. So, think about that the next time your knee-jerk reaction compels you to regard Serbian intelligence reports as bullshit and those sources who forewarned the West as "revisionist."

Wrong. Serbia was bombed because Milosevic was using his military and police to direct deadly force against Kosovar Albanian civilians and refused to cease these actions. We were going to bomb Serbia back in October of '98, but Milosevic pulled back from the edge. He didn't pull back in the Spring of '99 and so got his stupid ass bombed for his troubles and lost Kosovo for Serbia.

As to McKenzie, he's wrong. Plain and simple. Al Qaeda made overtures to the KLA in 1998, but were rebuffed, and their point man and his cell were arrested in Albania in that year.

So Banat, the question isn't one of your purported link, but why you're trying to present it as fact when it's nothing but BS to start with?

So, think about that the next time your knee-jerk reaction compels you to regard Serbian intelligence reports as bullshit and those sources who forewarned the West as "revisionist."

Nothing knee-jerk about it. You're wrong, and furthermore, Serbian intelligence has proven its worth by trying to tie the Madrid and London bombings to Bosnia, causing us to waste time and resources on what turned out to be Serbian lies.

Yeah, that's right: the present paradigm regarding Serbian intelligence is that it's nothing but self serving BS. It's not that we think they're incompetent fools who can't capture Ratko Mladic, it's that we know they're two faced liars who can, but won't, and would rather waste our time trying to retroactively justify their crimes by equating them with our war on terror.

And there you have it.
