Police in Lawrence arrested two people following the discovery of more than $1 million in cocaine in a rental van. Investigators found even more cocaine in a Methuen home along with $120,000.
Workers at a car rental agency found the drugs inside two liquor boxes in the back of the van on Tuesday morning. The cocaine was covered in transmission fluid to mask the scent.
The van was rented to 30-year-old Nicole Paquette of Haverhill. A detective posed as a car rental employee, called Paquette and told her to come pick up the boxes.
Paquette arrived at the store at short time later and was arrested. Police also arrested 44-year-old Angel Ayala, of Philadelphia, at a home in Methuen. Inside the home they found another $1.5 million in cocaine and $120,000 cash.
Paquette and Ayala were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence District Court.
just no cure for stupid
Angel: "Did you get those liquor boxes Nicole?"
Nicole: "D-oh, I thought you did! Thank goodness that car rental agent called!"
OOPS!
I'm thinking, "who trusted these morons with all that junk?"
The price to the distributor is about $30,000 a kilo in the midwest. Price on the east coast would be higher. The price to the steet dealer--when I was bailbonding--was about $1000 an ounce (35.25 oz/kilo). That was pure cocaine, and then they would cut it with baking soda at least 50/50.
We dont know what value that the writer is applying to the illegal drug, but over two million bucks worth of crap is a lot of kilo packages. Even street value of cut crap is pushing this haul to 20 kilos or so. That is a lot of crap. That is way too much for dingleberries to be hauling around. They almost had the hook in a biggie and ended up settling for a nibbler.
The names give it away though. There will be heads rolling over this loss. The cartel will not set still for a loss of this size.
They got some 'splaining' to do!
Haverhill, Methuen, Lawrence... these towns in MA are trashy ghettos, most of the drugs here in southern NH are from towns like this. Good riddance to two idiots. And I'm anti-drug war!
and the transmission fluid! Think of the street value for that.
That's a Swedish name, right?
Sounds as if you don't think they'll survive their jail time.
All I can say is, from experience, I wouldnt want to be in their shoes.
