Ohio Congressman Is Said to Agree to Plead Guilty
NY Times ^ | September 15, 2006 | PHILIP SHENON

WASHINGTON, Sept. 14 — Representative Bob Ney, Republican of Ohio, has agreed to plead guilty to federal criminal charges related to his dealings with the corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff, lawyers and others with knowledge of the investigation said Thursday.

A guilty plea would make Mr. Ney, a six-term congressman, the first member of Congress to admit to criminal charges in the Abramoff investigation, which has focused on the actions of several current and former Republican lawmakers who had been close to the former lobbyist.

People with detailed knowledge of the investigation said Mr. Ney had entered an in-patient rehabilitation facility in recent days for treatment of alcoholism, making it uncertain whether he would appear at a court hearing to announce the plea. Lawyers and others would speak only anonymously because of concern they would anger prosecutors.

They said the agreement with the Justice Department — and the exact criminal charges, which are expected to include conspiracy and false statement — would be disclosed in Washington as soon as Friday and would probably require Mr. Ney to serve at least some time in prison.

And as usual, not a WORD about the Democrats who recieved $100 of thousands of Abrhamoff directed packs include Dopey Harry Reid, Senate Minoirty leader.

Wondered how the Junk Media was going to try and stop the Democrats freefall in the polls.

Ney is not running for re-election.

A special primary was held today in the 18th Congressional district, but the NYT will try to make sure that they portray Ney as the incumbant forever, while they are silent about "cold cash" Rep. Jefferson(D-LA), who is retaining his seat.

Democrats never admit guilt. They have to be dragged to prison kicking and screaming. But more often than not, they are simply allowed to get away with it.

Uh you should put a date on your reply #7. Ney has dropped out of the race and there was a special primary held today to replace Ney on the ballot, DUmmie.

"...Representative Bob Ney, Republican of Ohio..."

Interesting, eh? For those of us who know the code, if it had said "...Representative Bob Ney of Ohio..." we would have know instantaneously that it was a Democrat. But when it is a Republican, it shows up in word count #4.

The NYT sucks. They are enemies of the USA.

Oh well. Can only wait for the next round of layoffs there to improve the security of our country.

Ney took one for the team, unlike Tom Delay and Conrad Burns. Ney knew Ohio election laws and dropped out so Joy Padgett will now hold the seat for the GOP.

Yeah, he did. But, I learned some valuable truths from what he said. Sometimes I think I oughta write a book and entitle it "Daddy's Addages".

Another one that stuck with me for nigh onto 60 years now is: "You can only kick an old dog so long then he's gonna raise up and bite ya."
