Sleazywood and its populace not only say "it's ok" but they DO it and glorify it. The number of Sleazywood slut actresses shacking up and having babies OOW and with other woman in lesbian relationships (Rosie O'Donnell, Jodie Foster, to name two) is disgusting and dismaying.

The series Murphy, with Candice Bergen, added that when Murphy had a baby OOW and dismissed the father of the baby as nonsequiter and unimportant.

I remember a conversation with a judge that said 70% of all his criminal cases were from mother only families. He believed recitivism was linked to that too.

The author is clearly not saying that failing to get married before engaging in intercourse is a good thing. She's saying that childbirth itself is not the time, the reason, or the occasion for shame and blame. The child per se is a positive good simply because he/she is a new human being. The child should not be seen as a punishment or a shame.

The shame ---and it is a shame ---is because the parents didn't love the child enough to marry and give their child a dignified, secure, and well-provided entrance into the world. Didn't love their child enough, didn't love each other enough, or didn't respect themselves enough to make the moral choice to abstain from sex outside of marriage.

If we forget that every child comes from the hand of God, we'll end up butchering the poor little naked bastards. And that is an abomination that cries to heaven.
