Wal-Mart is a business predator. So, they are going after the CVS, Walgreen pharmacies.
How?
Predatory pricing. They aren't getting these drugs from drg manufactureres that cheaply. They are selling them at a loss in order to take the customers away from the pharmacy stores and drive them out of business.
Yeah, good for the consumer. In about 3 years, there will be no pharmacies open except for Wal-Mart.
Yeah, those bastards at Wal-Mart. The largest retailer in the world can't possibly have that kind of negotiating power with suppliers. They have to be doing something illegal to offer prices that low. We need the government to do something about this right away. Consumers don't want low prices. They want higher prices to protect competition.

There won't be any grocery stores either. It's going to be the United States of Wal-Mart I tell ya! /economic ignorance off.
LOL.
One, I would strongly suspect WM just buys in bulk.
Two, pharmacies are in supermarkets becaue they are "loss leaders," like beer in a 7-eleven.
(Beer is sold at a loss or near loss at 7-Elevens because you go in and buy chips with the beer and get a 700% markup. Same with gas. Buy a slurpe and it's a 1,000% markup --- actual cost .02.)
All over the midwest both those chains are building very nice (brick exterior) freestanding large new stores like crazy. So apparently they think there's a future out there somehow.
