I tended bar in an after hours jazz club on West 52nd before they tore the block down. It was across from Jimmy Ryan's in the basement of a brownstone. Saw Miles, Monk, Diz, Philly Joe Jones, even Benny Goodman...all thisclose.

This is the holy grail of soda fountain treats.
To those of us old enough to remember, its an elixir that transcends time and transports us to our youth.
The image of a shiny dime placed on a marble counter as we watched with salivating anticipation as the fountain man created this nectar of the gods.
The sound of the spoon as he beat it to a frothy head and then reached for the black, Bakelite handle to have that last splash of seltzer drop from the mouth of that chrome spigot.

I say, "No, sir." This is not some "carbonated stuff."

Harlem's history has been muddied by blacks and liberal historians, so that most people have no idea that it wasn't always a black enclave.

I don't understand why you think it's been "muddied." Just because Harlem hasn't always been black doesn't mean that the fact that it has been black for 80 years isn't culturally or historically important.
