Citgo Petroleum has lost a contract to supply 7-Eleven fuel needs around the nation, elected leaders in two states are considering formal action against the company and dozens of smaller boycotts are being launched because owner Hugo Chavez called President Bush "the devil" and envisions the destruction the United States.
"I can't buy a product from a country that wants to destroy our way of life as we know it," one supporter of the Citgo Boycott website said. "I don't care if Citgo starts selling gas for $.50/gal. I will go to another station and pay $2.50. All Americans must realize that by purchasing gas from Citgo, you're digging your own grave or your children's graves."

Circle K is changing too.
I rarely see the point in boycotting anything. No one cares. No matter what you or I do, Venezuela won't have a problem marketing all that oil.
Loving it!
When you see Citgo, think Hugo!
Just say NO..
to CITGO.
They sell it to the ChiComms.
Freedom's a PITA sometimes, eh?
Let them market it. If they have a problem marketing it here, so much the better.
Chubby can KMA.
Three problems: Independents buy anything so places like Race Track will not sell you a product you're of unknown origin. Refiners may refine Chavez crude without us knowing. Finally, Citgo--based in Tulsa and Houston--employs Americans.
One things for sure, I'm glad the ChiComs were barred from buying Amaco (I think it was Amaco).
Boycotts do work especially this one which is a no brainer. There are hundreds of gas stations to choose from and I never shop Citgo. I've always thought the best way to deal with these third world blow hards is to cut them off. They are doing what they are doing because they think they have leverage.
Strange things afoot at the Circle K, Bill. Awesome, Ted.
We are 300,000,000 person country that all use petroleum in some form or another. Cutting Venezuela off would increase reserves around the world thereby driving bbl prices down. It might be wishful thinking but maybe we'll end up paying less at the pump by not giving giving Chavez all of those American dollars. (thats my unused 20 year old econ degree talking).
I say starve them and get Chavez overthrown. It will take a while but money talks. Capitalism will always win.
Sorry, I get a good deal on Citgo gas from my supermarket gas perks card. Don't tell me to pay more for gas to satisfy your agenda. I'm retired and that's the way it is. Too much age discrimination in society, too many jobs disappearing...don't lecture people who are trying to hold their own in the current state of our economy. I will go for the lowest gas price, because I have to, for economic necessity.
I am pretty certain that the US will never actually cut off Venezuela no matter what Chavez does or says. We need oil. They have all that oil, so close. If we actually did embargo them (which will never happen), prices would probably go way up, and we would further enrich them anyway because some other country would take that oil off their hands. Chavez isn't worried that his big mouth will have any actual consequences and neither am I.
Our agenda???WTF? This country is awash in aging baby boomers. Society caters to you geezers. I'm 41 BTW... missed by 1 year. This country's employment is at a historical high. This is my best year ever income wise. My house has doubled in value in 6 years. You need to look at the bigger picture rather than your selfish needs. Quit buying their gas you commie supporter.
And cheer up for God's sake. Life is good. Wait... you're one of them... ah I get it now...
"Citgo...the Dixie Chicks of gas stations"
And .. while some may say this will never work .. remember this - they said the same thing about our boycotting of French wine .. and France is in a world of hurt over our boycott.
It may take awhile .. but ...
Florida state Rep. Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, said he wants Florida to strip Citgo of its contract to run gas stations on Florida's Turnpike.
What does the contract say? Can Florida legally do that?
Well maybe not a formal embargo imposed by government. But more of a principled embargo driven by the American public. Was Southland Corporation Venezuelas biggest customer? I don't know. It seems Chavezs' big mouth lost that account for them.
Hey Hugo!... Citgo On it!
