Veteran CBS newsman Bob Schieffer, who received the Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in the Media at the University of South Dakota, says the United States has never needed a vigorous free press more than now.
"I cannot remember a time when it's been more challenging for journalists," said Schieffer, 69, who has covered Washington for more than 30 years and hosts the CBS interview show "Face the Nation."

Yeah. What Bob means is that we need to go back to the time when the New York Times and three tv networks called the tune and everybody else danced.
Sorry Bob.

First time there was an alternative media to get the TRUTH out to the people. Of course, he sees that as a challenge. It's a challenge to their lies.

What we really need is a new generation of journalists who are not seditionists, traitors, and anti-American scumbags. Hey, a guy can dream.

I cannot remember a time when it's been more challenging for journalists Hey, Bob, maybe if journalists just reported facts - not how they feel - it would not be so much of a challenge.
I see your point, though. Continuous lying and selective reporting can indeed be a challenge.
A real bitch, eh Bob?

I take it that through some strange logic Bob believes a free press is one controlled by three large networks staffed by liberals and headquartered in New York.

Don't hedge your bets that if Mrs. Clinton is elected president the free exchange of info and news like this forum are closed. Also that the fairness doctrine is returned and that it destroys conservative talk radio.
