Murtha and the media
Stop the New York Times ^ | October 10, 2006 | editors

Please take a few minutes to read and listen to what these two men have to say:

I want what I have to say today to cause some of the good citizens of the 12th Congressional District of Pennsylvania to vote for a lasting peace and freedom's preservation which can only come from victory and [the] decimation of our enemies. -- David Beamer, Boot Murtha rally, Johnstown, PA, 10/01/2006

...Journalists sheepishly toe the party line defined by the editorials and coverage in publications such as The New York Times, the New York Review of Books and The New Yorker. Few are willing to challenge the consensus agreed upon by their colleagues – dissent isn’t welcome within the media’s inner circles, and contrary opinions about Iraq or our soldiers result in ostracism.

As for the media’s objectivity, that’s nonsense. Shortly after the 2004 presidential election, I agreed to sit on a panel on contemporary warfare at a Washington symposium for a few hundred journalists. Traffic was unexpectedly light that day, so I arrived in time to witness the panel before mine. The New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh began by remarking to the audience, “Well, our guy lost.”

There were a few murmurs from the crowd, but no one spoke out to challenge Hersh’s assertion that John Kerry had been the media’s candidate...

Hersh was a shepherd who knew his sheep.

Feeding Frenzy. Even before the rape-murder case, incidents involving alleged misbehavior by U.S. forces were favorites of the press. Abu Ghraib became a new Auschwitz at the media’s hands, and Guantanamo was portrayed as equivalent to the Soviet Gulag. The alleged killing of Iraqi civilians by Marines at Haditha excited the press for months. No one in the media bothered to examine the historical record and run the numbers. No one credited the U.S. military with maintaining unprecedented discipline in comparison to other militaries and other wars. The media had decided that the Iraq war was bad, that failure was inevitable, and they were not going to allow any contrary evidence to interfere with their conclusions. Conditioned by Oliver Stone films, journalists “knew” that atrocities were bound to occur. Their impatience was palpable. When a few ugly incidents inevitably surfaced, the media amplified them, doing a disservice to our troops and our country – and to Iraq. -- Ralph Peters, American Legion Magazine, Oct 2006

I was sent this yesterday and now can understand what makes the democrats different than the conservatives.. http://rightwingnews.com/ Could These Poll Numbers Help Explain The Democratic Hostility To Religion? Here are some results from a very telling poll at the Democratic Underground: Note that the agnostics and atheists outnumber the Christians by more than 2 to 1 -- and let's face it, would anyone be the least bit surprised if these numbers held up pretty well among white, liberal activists? It would actually go a long way towards explaining why the Democratic Party is so anti-Christian. At the Democratic Underground, people who believe in any sort of organized religion are a minority. But, amongst the general population, 92% of the American people believe in God. Furthermore, according to the latest numbers I was able to find, "76.5% of American adults are Christian," and, "14.1% do not follow any organized religion." So, at the DU, again, atheists and agnostics outnumber Christians 2 to 1, but in the general population, Christians outnumber atheists and agnostics by more than 5 to 1. Since that's the case, it's not really a surprise that DU'ers and their ilk on the left don't see eye to eye with Christians on a lot of key issues.

What are the latest reliable poll numbers on Murtha's race? Has Rasmussen got anything on it?

MURTHA ALERT

Oct. 9, 2006

CRUNCH TIME, FOLKS!

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re well and truly “booting Murtha!” If there’s any doubt in your minds, read the “Tale of Three Rallies” article on BootMurtha.com.

A telling statistic:

BEFORE the Boot Murtha Rally and BEFORE the release of the
“full-monty” ABSCAM tape, Murtha was leading his opponent by a mere 55% to 45%. That’s not just “telling;” it’s phenomenal! And it’s largely because of what you and we have done on a mere $38,000!

And we’ve just begun to carry the fight to Murtha. We knew where we’d be, pretty much, at this point in the campaign, and that’s WAY behind where we should be if we were going to carry the gospel to the voters in the 12th District. Believe it or not, we planned our campaign with this in mind!

Having said that, hear me out:

we have to raise a quarter-million dollars
between now and November 1st

With that money, we will be able to carry out the detailed (and, I must confess, Top Secret) plan redeploy that corrupt old politician.

DO NOT THINK that your ten-, twenty-five-, and hundred-dollar contributions do not add up, because they most certainly do. They provide us with the day-to-day funds we need to purchase campaign materials and flyers and to keep our campaign before the public.

More importantly, they give us the credibility we need to persuade potential “deep-pockets” donors that we have a real shot at sending Murtha home. PLEASE do what you can and pass on this appeal!

Folks, the rally showed how numerous, how animated, and how motivated the anti-Murtha community is. If you weren’t there, check out the photos at the website to get an idea of what I’m talking about. You can also check out 4 short video clips of speakers David Beamer, Craig Minnick, Harry Beam and co-emcees Quinn & Rose.

If we were talking about wartime language (and we ARE in a war), we would now be recognized as a “belligerent power.” That means that we are recognized as a major player in this year’s congressional campaign. Murtha ignored us for too long. He knows who we are now.

We are so close to defeating Murtha that I can smell the champagne and hear the shouting at our victory party, and what a party that will be! The only question is where we will have it…

Of course, we still need that quarter-million, and I’m asking you to give us one more “hit” and to get like-minded Americans stirred up enough to get involved in our campaign.

Do what you can. We’re doing what we can; as you know, every nickel of your donations goes into the program. Not a single member of our little “Vets for the Truth” organization draws any compensation at all.

When folks are motivated by passion, however, compensation is not a consideration, and it’s that passion that impels me to ask for your continued support. Please help us…
