CBS4) BOSTON Former Boston city councilor David Scondras is facing charges for attempting to lure a teenage boy over the internet.
Lawrence Police arrested Scondras at about 1:15 a.m. Monday. Investigators said a sergeant pretending to be a 15-year-old boy had several sexually explicit email exchanges with Scondras.
Officers arrested Scondras at a location where he thought he was going to meet the boy.
Scondras served on the city council from 1983-1993. He was the city's first openly-gay councilor. Scondras also founded the non-profit organization, Search For A Cure.
Scondras was arrested in 1996 after a teenager accused him of sexual assault in a Boston movie theatre. The charges were eventually dropped.
Ah yes, the Internet. When men are men, women are men and teenagers are undercover police.
No mention of political affiliation. Isn't that just odd?

The GOP should announce a national plan like this to catch more child predators. See how many Democrats sign up for that.

Scondras kept calling 911 over a trivial matter several years ago, demanding to speak to the police commissioner, etc. He sounded like he was drunk. Howie would play tapes of this ("Thish is David Scon-drassh...I wanna talk to Commississioner Bratton..."), with Little Walter blues music backing it up.

He got arrested in Larry? He must've been going up north for some "ruff trade."
They left out the part about how the teenager (a tourist with his family from the midwest, IIRC) hauled off and socked him in the mouth when he made his move. I believe Scondras was in the hospital for a day or two and lost a few teeth. He talked about seeking to prosecute the kid for assault but his lawyer or someone undoubtedly convinced him it wouldn't be a good idea.
Most people don't pay enough attention to make the immediate connection between Boston and Democrat. Had he been Republican, the headling would have contained "Republican Former City Council Member Scondas."

I'm sure we will hear in the local media how he's a victim of one disease or another.
