"Or maybe the case has no merit."
So suggests the latest issue of the American Lawyer, citing one theory as to why Valerie Plame of CIA-leak fame suddenly parted ways with her attorney, Proskauer Rose partner Christopher Wolf -- her next-door neighbor, no less -- shortly after her civil action was filed against senior Bush administration officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney and White House aide Karl Rove.
"The breakup was a shock," writes the magazine's Elizabeth Goldberg, given that Mr. Wolf had filed the suit only "a month earlier."
Headlined "File and run," the article quotes lawyer Victoria Toensing, a former chief counsel to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, as saying: "I'm amazed Proskauer took the case in the first place."

If Proskauer's other partners saw this suit as a frivolous suit that was sure to lose and embarrass the firm, they would have given Wolf his last K-1 and wished him well.
Looks like he didn't like Mrs. Plame that much.
I know ... he'll have to resort to a map legend .. poor sissyChrissy .. ;)
This rates a "HAR!"
I understand Harold Ford's a lawyer, maybe he'll take the case.
Plame story is old news. Time to move on from the non-stop reporting of it. There is more important news like what Foley IM'd to college students as they made fun of him.
Lots of clients lie to their attorneys and as long as the lie fits the template the attorney 'wants' to believe, they will ignore the contrary evidence up the point of a judges rebuke. Its either the sign of a bad attorney or the sign of another baby boomer Camelot-wannabe who just wanted to believe that Bush really did want to attack CIA agents because he really was truly evil just like Howard Dean said he was. Being a trial lawyer is actually a developed skill and the biggest skill is evaluating which cases you are almost certain to win and which ones are going to be messy and potentially losers. This lawyer isn't a trial lawyer. (i'm stopping before being a trial lawyer sounds like a compliment)
Only a DUmmmie or Kos rube would believe that disclosing someone has clearance and/or works at CIA is a de facto civil offence.
It's not, never was, never will be. Janitors and cafeteria dishwashers at Langley have "clearance". Big whoop.
And in any case no one can discuss her former *alleged* "covert" status in a public courtroom without that status having previously been declassified.
Or maybe John Edwards or Cincinnati's very own Stan Chesley -- NAH -- not enough money to be made!
As her neighbor he might potentially be a witness. He surely must have known that Plame was not covert. There was a potential conflict of interest.
Plames lawyer decided to run
cause there werent no smoking gun
Rove beat the rap
Now the Dems have crap
Aint politics of personal destruction fun?
When the Foley thing started, I wrote that I was waiting for Wolf to show up. Now, lets see if it happens and who he represents. I'm sure there will be lawsuits, books....ya know, the usual.
Hillary is all about protecting the children. She hasn't said much on Foley. Maybe it's because Bubba was 52 years old (same age as Foley) when Monica gave at the office. Of course we remember the DEMS immediately looking into the Intern Program.
Anyways, Hillary just uses her boot lickers, the ones that don't know sh** from Shinola....like Scummee and Bela Pelosi to "brainwash" the public.
Many thanks for the ping...this IS getting good. LOL
"this was going to be a long, long politically motivated effort which could be ALL on the firms dime with no real chance of reward"
I think you have it nailed.
Tweety dropped this one like a very hot potato
"Christopher Wolf has a specialty: Privacy, sommunications and the internet."
And Mark Zaid is the primo clearance lawyer in DC, so you might expect to see him around, if there's any there, there.
But there isn't, and so we won't.
