He is on the ballot for re-election in three weeks, but a South Dakota state senator's career is in jeopardy because of an accusation that's been brewing for eight months.

The father of an 18-year-old male page says democrat Dan Sutton sexually groped the young man while the two roomed together during the legislative session.

Now state senators are asking Sutton to resign or face legislative action...

Because there were no charges, the father of the page contacted Republican senator Lee Schoenbeck and wrote a letter to Sutton telling him to resign by today or face a public legislative hearing...

Sutton did not resign today. Neither he nor the page's father returned our calls for comment.

The father of an 18-year-old male page says ....

It lacks credibility. Why isn't the 18-year-old page saying....? It sounds a tad too convenient. When the former page is the one saying what happened, rather than his daddy, the story might have believability.

"When the former page is the one saying what happened, rather than his daddy, the story might have believability."

Since when is the MSM concerned with facts, the "seriousness of the charge" is all that matters.

"Butler says the page roomed with Sutton during the last legislative session..."

Should this just be discounted off-hand here? If so, why?

Doesn't the seriousness of the charges warrant further investigation?

Eight months? And we are just now hearing about it? Wonder why?

The father of an 18-year-old male page says democrat Dan Sutton sexually groped the young man while the two roomed together during the legislative session.

Is anyone but me curious about the circumstances which lead to a state senator rooming with a page? Why is anyone "rooming" with anyone else?

Besides that, what a stupid thing to do! It not only invites impropriety, but it can also invite false accusations with little way to prove differently.

Last spring, I was working in a preschool and we had a male substitute teacher offer to stay behind with a little girl who was misbehaving while the rest of us went out to recess. I told the guy that if he valued his job, he wouldn't place himself in that position. He was shocked and said it had never occurred to him that he could be in danger in that situation.

BTW, many still wonder what the Democrats knew about Foley and when they knew it.
