PHOENIX -- The brother of an NFL player who was killed in Afghanistan after quitting the team to join the U.S. Army Rangers has spoken out.
Kevin Tillman, a former Army Ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan with his older brother, Pat Tillman, has remained silent since his brother's death in 2004. But this week, he wrote a scathing indictment of the war in Iraq, the Bush administration and American apathy.
"Somehow, the more soldiers that die, the more legitimate the illegal invasion becomes," Kevin wrote on Truthdig.com, which purchased his work.
The brothers, both Arizona State University graduates, joined the Army in response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. They served together as Rangers with the 2nd Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment.

The original and full text of Kevin Tillman's , of what I would call a bitter rant, is at the link below.
Of course, anyone who doesn't think this war in Iraq was a great idea is "irrational."
If they were/are so bitter, then why did they enlist to begin with? What do they think war is anyway?
This was the lead story last night on ABC news radio.
Notice Kevin Tillman's hate for President Bush and for the people who elected him, yet he is silent about who actually started this conflict, the islamofascists.
Um, isn't he speaking out against the wrong war. His brother wasn't killed in Iraq or even because of Iraq. Liberalism is a mental disease.
If I recall, the Tillman's are democrats. Someone correct me if I am way off on this.
It is a lot easier to criticize the war right now than to support it.
Its like gay marriage, if you oppose it, you are a homophobe.
To support the war now, given the media endorsement of the antiwar position, is contrary and unpopular.
I agree with you. We should cut and run. And then, we should let a nuke go off in New York and DC. We should give up the WOT. It is a waste of time and lives. Things will be more peaceful when we stop harassing Muslims.
By the way, in case you were unaware, Tillman died in Afghanistan. The Democrats haven't really turned on that one...yet.
IMO, this is what happens to many non-religious families when tragedy strikes them. Grief turns to bitterness and they have to find someone to blame, since they can't believe that this tragedy was God's will.
But they lie. They opposed fighting back against the Taliban after 9/11. Cleaning up the filth in Afghanistan was "illegal" in their eyes.
9-11 was carried out by Islamist Jihadists.
Saddam and his sons were secular.
The moment Bush turned the attention of the war on terror to Iraq the first thing that went through my head was the FACT that Saddam was not interested in a caliphate(s) governed by Sharia law, like those who carried out the several previous terrorst attacks on our country.
The fact remains practicing Muslims are not capable, nor want, Western style freedoms.
Yep. The war in Afghanistan is the one the Libs are all 'for'. BTW, love your tag.
Uh, neither was saddam.
And neither are the Saudi's (our friends.)
Just because a leader of a country isn't committed to western style freedoms, that means the country becomes a target of ours?
I have no respect for people that do this. It's like they are disrespecting their family member's sacrifice.
If I was Rachel Corrie's sister or something, I might tell my close friends she was crazy, but I would never criticize her in public. My comments would be limited to that I loved her. Family is family.
I more than despise Cindy Sheehan for this reason.
Saddam was due. He should have been taken out in 93 and leaving him in power was a huge mistake that needed to be corrected.
Having bases in Iraq is a GOOD thing, because the REAL war is not with Iraq, its with Iran.
I realize that some people cannot see a strategy if it ran them over, but long term planning requires one to consider how to achieve a set of objectives.
Its really easy to say we are failing in Iraq...and I certainly think things could be better, but we are IN Iraq and given the situation, only have one way out. Sending a daily message to our troops that they are failing, or in a losing position, is not the way to win.
We should pull them back into bases, reduce our troop counts, and let the Iraqi government stand up. We can support it, but it is definitely time to let it stand on its own.
But that is different from saying "We are failing" or "Cutting and Running".
So, ivy, are you stating now that saddam was more pure than the wind driven snow?
I saw a Marine major whom I know and who I worked with in Washington DC about two-weeks ago. He retired from active service before 9/11 and volunteered to go back to Iraq. While he was there his vehicle was hit by an IED and he was badly wounded. He was burned overv 50% of his body, lost part of his skull around his right eye plus his eye, and numerous wounds everywhere. I was amazed at his attitude and fervent patriotism and support of the war. His sacrafice was not in vain and it shows a stark contrast to these whiners. Major John Lewis is an American hero.
I never accused him of being Western.
