AP news photographer abducted in Gaza

An Associated Press news photographer was abducted Tuesday by Palestinian gunmen in Gaza. Emilio Morenatti, 37, a Spanish national, was forced into a car as he was on his way to meet his translator around 7:30 a.m., a Spanish Foreign Ministry spokeswoman told CNN. Hamas-controlled Palestinian Authority sources confirmed the abduction to the AP, whose President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Curley issued a statement denouncing the kidnapping. "It is a sad development when the men and women the world rely on to bring them objective news are subject to such dangers. No cause or motive can justify such senseless action," Curley said, adding the agency's main concern was for Morenatti's safety.

The Israeli Arutz Sheva broadcaster said in the past Morenatti had been given "an inside view" of al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigades militants preparing for attacks against Israelis and had published photographs of a person placing a bomb and another carrying an explosive belt to be used in a suicide bombing.

However, the broadcaster said it's not unusual for terror groups to give major news agencies occasional access to their operations. [end]

Is it really abduction, or bringing home an agent?

An al-AP photographer? Why kidnap people who are on your own side?

What a self-serving load of camel dung! Reporters have been in harm's way ever since there was reporting. What gets them in trouble is when they get in bed with terrorists for the sake of a headline. He was probably on his way to get a sniper's eye view of the death of an IDF soldier.
