I have been working all day since this story broke, with no TV access, so this story doesn't tell me much out of context--how is this playing?

all I can give you is from my humble job as a college professor.
The Dems are slitting their wrist, knowing they have once again shot themselves.
The key point I think is it gives borderline Republicans a reason to get out and vote. It reminds them of why this election is so important. I was of the opinion we'd lose the House and probably hold the Senate.
Now, I'm not so sure. Granted it's still anyone's ballgame, but this Kerry insult has really lit a fire under the Republican base and demoralized the Dems. Another few days of press coverage and then the weekend before the election....
I'm actually becoming cautiously optimistic.
Everybody (and I mean everybody) is pissed off at John Effin' Kerry.
And now he's running off to hide - giving the floor, the microphones, and hopefully the election, to the Republicans.

Expect an all out Left Wing Media Blitz Wednesday morning to downplay Kerry's wake up call for the sleeping conservative giant that is full of terrible resolve.
Don't think it will do much good, though. The damage is done. The more Kerry stays away from this and hopes it goes away, the larger the problem for them Dems.
