The head of the Russian military’s general staff, Yuri Baluyevsky, said Thursday Iran does not have the technological means to create intercontinental ballistic missiles, Radio Free Europe reports.

“According to our information, today Iran has no technological or technical capabilities to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile,” he said.

Yeah, Russians would know because they are the ones who would most probably supply them with such technology if money is offered. ;)

Why would they develop an ICBM when they could just buy them from Russia/China/N. Korea? Durrrr.

They don't need ICBMs to wreak havoc. Hitler terrorized London with primitive missiles armed with conventional warheads. Imagine what those fruitcakes could do with a SCUD with a nuclear or chemical warhead.

I heard the russians provided the iranians with boomerang technology!

It is the russian's most secret and coveted technology.

Fire a missle and it always returns to home.

I don't know if they have the capability without using nukes themselves. Taking out Osirak was a major challenge, and this would be exponentially more difficult. I doubt their current government, who couldn't even finish off Hezbollah, has the seeds to do it anyway.

So let them use nukes. There are VERY few more deserving recipients on this planet.

A SCUD isn't very useful as the range is very limited.

What Iran is developing are IRBM's or Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles.

How exactly would they be incapable? Haven't they already got missiles capable of hitting Europe (and Israel)? An intercontinental missile would seem to be only a few steps away.

Out of those options they should buy either Chinese or Russian (Russia has a not-so-great track record, but when is the last time China has launched a missile? Although they successfully launched a man into space..... ).

I think you're referring to rockets. Aka buzz bombs.
