Kerry’s ‘joke’ foils pols’ plans (MA politics)
Boston Herald ^ | 11-5-06 | Howie Carr

The Massachusetts congressional delegation would like to ask Sen. John Kerry a question:

How can we miss you when you won’t go away?

You see, there’s a whole other story involved in Gigolo John’s political suicide in Pasadena last week. For weeks, the persistent rumor had been that once the elections were over, Liveshot would announce that 1) he was officially running for president in 2008, and 2) he would not seek re-election to the Senate.

Nobody cared about 1) because a 2008 run would have obviously been his next “botched joke,” but 2) would have set off a stampede among the local solons.

Hopefully he gets pissed enough to quit now so Mitt gets to pick his replacement.

God save us from National Enquirer front cover Hollywood-types who think their opinions have more weight than us minions.

Sorry, when this became a pressing matter back in '04 the state legislature quickly usurped this power for themselves. No way they were going to let Mitt choose an interim senator.

Besides trashing U.S. troops, finding and marrying rich females(gigalo), "wounding"himself for purple hearts and eating at the public trough has this piece of human garbbage ever done anything?

Point of the column is that the Massachusetts Democrats have taken their eye off the long-term for a short-term gain - Deval Patrick, Governor.

But in Massachusetts, there are rules of advancement in politics. It's Marty Meehan and Steve Lynch who've been waiting in the wings for Ted Kennedy or John Kerry to move on or retire.

Marty Meehan has a $5 million war chest to run for senator. Will very popular Deval Patrick squish his chance to be senator?

Massachusetts Democrats have a sense of propriety: Whose turn is it? Did the candidate pay his dues?

But Deval Patrick is so popular!!! Can the Democrats stop this train? I don't think so. So Marty and Steve will go down in history as Congressmen ONLY.

Carr makes one mistake..There is NO special election for a vacant Seat. The governor appts someone until the NEXT regular statewide election...

Said one longtime acquaintance (the appropriate word, because Kerry has no real friends): “I’d almost feel sorry for him, if I didn’t know him so well.”

Snort, guffaw...

Poor Liveshot. All those wasted weekends in Iowa last summer, all those stupid blogs, sucking up to the moonbats - all for naught. What’s a gigolo to do? "

SCHWEET!

I thought he and his wife lives in Georgia (and certainly part time here in LA).

Affleck sounds great for MA ... totally vacuous.

(RE: Duval Patrick, candidate for Governor)

Senators seethe over Patrick

First it was US Senator Edward M. Kennedy who was quickly steamed about Patrick. Now Massachusetts' other US senator, John F. Kerry, is burning over Patrick's public posturing at his expense.

As Kerry licked his wounds in self-exile last week, Patrick, at a gubernatorial debate in Boston, was telling Massachusetts voters that the senator's much-maligned attempt at humor was "dumb." At the time, the senator's flubbed joke at a California political event was the talk of the political world, targeted by President Bush and many Democrats, too.

A senior Democratic source said Kerry and his staff were quite unhappy over Patrick's statement. Kerry cancel ed his scheduled campaign tour for Patrick this weekend, but it is not clear whether the Democratic gubernatorial nominee's comments had anything to do with his decision. Kerry is lying low anyway after the political beating he took.

Although it hasn't stopped him from working hard for Patrick's election, Kennedy, through intermediaries, has let the candidate know that he is none too happy to see Patrick touting his strong support for the Cape Wind project to place 120 turbines in Nantucket Sound. Patrick has pointed to his support of the project to demonstrate he is free from the influence of his political allies.
