I've seen JROTC cadets around San Fran and they are almost exclusively Chinese and Hispanic kids, and are very enthusiastic about what they're doing. It gets results, gets kids off their rear ends and out of the house. The supes killed one of the few school programs in the city that actually has a positive effect. If they changed the name from JROTC to the Union of Communist Youth they'd probably agree to keep it around.

This country, like the rest of the west, is in deep SH_T!

I am WWII vet and pro military but I fail to see the value of three hours / week of close order drill for two years for fifteen year old boys. Close order drill was all we did for two years. We could have learned it in two weeks.

I attended my fifty year reunion at my high school some years ago and talked to some of the boys in ROTC and they were enthusiastic about it. But the ROTC training I had did not make me a better soldier at all.

Union of Communist Youth

That's a clever idea. Military life is a big commune. They do what they're told by the elite, nobody gets rich, free health care, government housing, everyone is assigned a job. Having the military in San Francisco is just a branding problem.
