The Giuliani Jitters
The New York Sun ^ | November 15, 2006 | Editorial Board

If the press release out of the Democratic National Committee is any indication of the knots into which the Democrats would be tied by a presidential campaign by Mayor Giuliani, it is sure going to be an lively couple of years. The DNC's communications director, Karen Finney, a veteran of Hillary Clinton's Senate campaign, greeted the news that Mr. Giuliani had formed a presidential exploratory committee with a press release that must be read to be believed. "Giuliani Was A Registered Democrat For Much Of His Life," the release begins. Only in Washington could the Democratic National Committee issue a press release attacking a politician for having been a Democrat. If having once been a Democrat were a disqualifier in the Republican primaries, a nominating convention would never have been held for a certain former Democrat named Ronald Wilson Reagan.

The next points of attack in the DNC press release? "Giuliani Is Pro-Choice," the Democratic National Committee charges. " Giuliani Doesn't Support A Ban On Partial-Birth Abortions." Mr. Giuliani may want to keep this press release on file for use in a general election campaign, when political committees affiliated with NARAL and other pressure groups will doubtless be spending millions of dollars to scare American women into thinking that a President Giuliani would appoint judges that would banish American women seeking reproductive rights back to back alleys with coat hangers. "Even the Democratic National Committee says I am pro-choice," Mr. Giuliani is going to be able to tell Democrats and independent voters.

They are very very scared of Rudy.

All the points they claim go against Rudy are vital issues to Dims. Pro-abortion? That's their mantra.

Sounds like they are so scared of Rudy, and all they have against him is that he could win, and he isn't one of them.

Before dismissing a strong candidate like Rudy, at least take a good look, and find out what he actually believes, where he stand on the issues, and where he wants to take the country, instead of relying on the left wing MSM and the Dims to define him.

That's because the Dems think the country wants to elect LIBERALS. They are wrong, and Giuliani would be a horrible nominee for the GOP.

You can count on many of our own conservative pundits bashing and trashing Rudy, helping the demons do their dirty work.

Reagan was also a dimocRAT. People grow up and move on. Some don't and remain dimocRATS.

As we do with all pro-abort, gun grabbing liberals. What's wrong with that?

We can count on our liberal pundits here defending his liberal views...

The Dems are squeezing Rudy, it was only to be expected.
He knows he has to renounce his liberal past to be nominated or elected.

He's my guy - tough and smart and no doubt at all about where he stands on defending this country against foreign enemies. He's the right guy for this time. The election would be his to lose no matter who the Democrats ran.

"Sounds like they are so scared of Rudy,"

Nonsense. They'd be quite satisfied to run the "risk" of Guiliani being the Republican front-runner.....if he did win, he's make them happy with most of what he'd advocate for as Prez......he might be a Republican, but he's not much of a conservative......but then that is true of so many Republicans these days, so he is not unique in that regard.

It used to be the conservative wing of the party would eliminate anyone with different views on guns, gays and abortion. Now immigration has been added. With 300 million Americans I doubt any one of us will find a candidate we agree with on many issues, we should look for the strongest one who can defeat the Democrats' choice. And esp. if that happens to be someone with the name Clinton. Who could forget what they did to us, we may never recover as a nation or world. And I fault myself with many others who chose Perot in '92, a foolish move to vote for someone who cannot win and help elect a totally disastrous choice to the Presidency.

Looks like they are trying to bait us with this "leaked" internal document to have an effect on Rudy's candidacy.

There has to be a "hook" hidden under all that "bait".

All this merely means that internal polling shows that Guiliani would crush Hillary. If they can destroy him in the Republican primaries, which is entirely possible, that opens the door wider for them.

Freeper stock in general election insights plummeted with election 2006. Many of the FR favored and preferred candidates lost handily.

FR and DU just don't have their finger on the pulse of the other 99.999% of the general population.

Let me get this straight... the democrats are condemning him because they say he agrees with the democrat agenda? How twisted can you get?

True Reagan was a Democrat , but being a Truman Democrat is a far cry from being a Clinton Democrat. Two different partys with the same name

Rudy is very respected in this country. I remember they did a smear campaign on TV about him recently pretending he didn't really do a good job after 911. The Republicans should issue as statement about Hillary and a few others, saying: "Hillary Clinton, a card carrying Marxist" most of her life.

Guess it would be too much to ask you which candidate you support. What are his strengths.

Better to be like the dems....trashing and bashing.

Waiting to hear your candidate.
