Why not? I wouldn't be surprised if half the country believes that Bush was responsible for 9-11. That's what happens when the White House doesn't fight back the lies.
No, and that's the point. The Democrats needed someone to help their "house servants" get their "field hands" in the black community to the polls in '06 and '08. Jesse's a little long in the tooth, Al's carrying even more baggage than Jesse, and Harold is (was) buy trying to establish his "good old boy" credentials. Barack was the only one left with even a spark of charisma.
You're not going to get the brothers and sisters too excited about the all-white Clinton-Clark ticket in '08, so start a little love affair with Osama Obama. Who knows, maybe Barack is an insurance policy, in case the GOP nominee tries to put "Condi" on the ticket.
