Tikrit -- Iraq has been serious in its efforts to improve the rule of law.
To help the city improve judicial services to its 100,000 residents, the Army Corps of Engineers recently renovated and expanded Tikrits courthouse.
The city, located on the banks of the Tigris River, is the capital of Salah ad Din Province and has the added responsibility to adjudicating cases from the entire province.
Engineers renovated he courthouse to provide better conditions for the regions new political leaders to do their jobs.
The electrical renovation included new wiring and fixtures throughout the old building, enabling it to support modern computer and electronic technology. A newly constructed annex building adds capacity to the facility and provides for a more efficient workflow. Included in the new annex is a reception area, restrooms and office spaces that will improve the courthouses overall functionality.
This has been a rewarding project for two reasons, said Chris Nelsen, USACE project engineer in Tikrit. The first reason involves completing another project which will help serve Iraq. This project also provided me the opportunity to work very closely with a contractor and help teach him the importance of planning, quality control, and project management. These tools will help him on future projects.
That looks like a sleazy, dive motel in the southwest. The ice machine is at the end of the walkway ... to the left of the security guard's chair.
Looks like a BBQ to me.
All they really need for a court is a stake in the ground close to the compound wall, and some rope. Spackle to fill the holes in the wall from time to time.
