Our State Representatives in another brilliant move (note sarcasm) returned the same high-class clowns -- who were instrumental in the sneaky late-night pay raise debacle -- to their leadership posts.
There was some opposition by legislative reformers who were laughed -- okay maybe not laughed -- but at least giggled out of the big room in Harrisburg. Our (Republican) solons reelected John Perzel as house speaker. He's the guy who defended the big pay raise saying that cow milkers and tattoo artists were more highly paid than state legislators are. There was no opposition to him. These are the people to whom we trust our hard-earned tax dollars.
I guess lessons still must need to be taught.
Well, we got the same old, same old in the house. The Senate is scheduled to hold leadership elections this week. My guess is it will be the same old, same old there, too.
Speaking of hard-earned tax dollars! The Republicans for Rendell will be happy to learn that Fast Eddie is happily smiling on a bipartisan advisory commission (he appointed) that plans to spend at least $1.7 billion a year to fix Pennsylvania's deteriorating network of roads and bridges. Some of that money will also go toward the bailing out of public transportation systems in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that are hard-pressed for money.

PA is fast becoming a blue state cesspool.
It saddens me to hear you say that....saddens me even more that you are correct.
Born and raised a PA country boy.
This ain't the state it was.
You've got Philadelphia and Pittsburgh with America in between. Those two areas are the reason for the creeping liberalism.

If Santorum won, the GOP would have control of the judiciary committee, and Bush's judicial nominees would have a better chance of making it to the floor for an up or down vote.
I don't get back much since leaving for basic training way back in Jan 98. From what I've seen about PA on FreeRepublic our state does seem to be slipping towards the New England left wing idiocy.
Still not a given considering Specter is on the Judiciary Committee. Or has he gotten himself another committee?
Not so much the country, but the cities are big nanny state, Fast Eddie zones.

Santorum isn't even mentioned in this article - it's mostly about the PA state house and senate.
Really, it helps to read the article first before posting - otherwise it looks like you are hijacking the thread with an unrelated issue.
BTW, thanks for the Ping, TO - certainly the author is on line with our posts on the subject on the PA board.
That's a relief. Hate to think my small hometown is overrun with liberals since I'll be moving back in about a year.
I'm in the woods. More deer and turkey than people.
Well, BillyBoy, if you think that the republican house and senate in Pa are the same 'high class clowns' think about how much fun Fast Eddie would have with our tax dollars if the Pa congress went to the democ rats! Fast Eddie was quick to propose a 12+ cent gas tax increase. Do you think it has a better chance, or worse chance, with the pubbies in control of the Pa congress?
Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are the problem! If it were up to the rest of the state, Santorum and Toomey would be our senators........
It's interesting that each district in Pa elects a majority of pubbies to the state congress but in a state wide election where Philly and Pittsburgh voters trump the rest of the state, democs are elected......
Amen to that.
I was thinking the same thing, Specter seems to be getting more dem-like by the year.
PA is fast becoming a blue state cesspool.
I just bought a home out of state. Besides the hopeless state of PA politics the home school laws are among the most burdensome in the country.
Some of that money will also go toward the bailing out of public transportation systems in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that are hard-pressed for money.
If you can't make a profit in that kind of market you should get out of the business.
