"Other mosques in the nation need to be demolished and the land razed."

Ohhh PULLEEEEEZZZZZ.....

Damn. If this was a big Baptist church that the neighbors didn't want, we'd have a million posts on here talking about the loss of the Freedom of Religion at the hands of liberals.

The neighbors don't want a huge new church, mosque or synagogue going up in their residential neighborhood. The fact that it's a mosque doesn't help, but the problem is that they don't want a big ANYTHING in there.

And, for the record, it is possible to have a large mosque and not have any Jihad stuff. I've lived with Muslims in Michigan for years, and so far every one of them that I've talked to totally repudiate their radical brothers. Just like in Christianity, there is lots of variation on how Islam is practiced, and when the radicals are not attacking us, they're attacking their brothers (who then move here).

That'll be nice when the neighbors hear the calling for prayers 5 times a day on loudspeakers.

And you know they are telling you the truth?

Hey, I take their religious views at face value. After all, it's what they believe in.

Ya right and a week or two ago a muzzie was arrested on his way to Michigan with $80,000, a laptop and cyanide. You don't have a clue what goes on in those places. Time to wise up.

You are deceived by deceivers. Islam isn't a religion; it's a violent cult comprised of practitioners of violence and supporters and enablers of violence. The supporters and enablers of violence within Islam have been trained to lie to non-muslims.

Are there exceptions? Yes, but not a large number.

Why don't all these muslims that are so disgusted by the voilence and so called hijacking of their religion speak out? You know, I could understand them being fearful in Iran or Iraq or Saudi Arabia, but in this country they have nothing to fear. Heck, even illegal aliens protest with impunity. Sorry, but actions speak louder than words, especially words that are whispered.

From a related thread:

"I live near this new mosque. I've seen the home now being used as a place of worship, and I've seen the pig pen.

Some points of interest:
(snip)

Local residents also protested when a Baptist Church was developed in the area, because the church destroyed a large number of trees and installed intrusive parking lights. Eventually, agreement was reached on using about 1/10th the number of lights, to lessen the impact on the neighbors. The point of this is that the community has a history of resisting intrusions that impact the quality of life as perceived by the residents, no matter what the religion. The opposition to the mosque really is not a religious thing at all.

Islam as a culture has become viewed with suspicion throughout out the world, by people who are not members of that culture. The reasons are obvious. Locally, two aspiring Muslim jihadists were arrested within the past few days and charged with conspiracy to aid the Taliban. The arrests followed their observed firearms training in a facility north of Houston owned by the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.

Part of the basis for suspicion is the stated philosophy that lying and deceiving outsiders is an acceptable tactic within Islam, if it furthers that group's aims.

Because of the existing well founded suspicion of Islamic culture, it is incumbent of the developers of the local mosque to be particularly open and transparent with their plans and intentions. Otherwise, the surrounding community justifiably views their intentions with concern and dismay.

For every one or two you have lived with or known we have see thousands/millions screaming in the steets "death to America" or some other crazed hate message. Sorry a handful of mudslime who may or may not be a threat to the rest of the world does not erase the hate DEMANDED by the koran (comic book for retards). Apply the following test and tell the rest of use that is-slime should be protected as a religion.

> SIMPLE VALID RELIGION TEST!

We need to define what can be classified and protected as a valid religion. I suggest a few simple litmus tests that any group seeking 1st amendment protection must pass. If your belief fails any of the litmus tests below you belong to a hate group and must be expelled from the country.

#1: If your belief commands you to kill or enslave those who are not of your religion then you fail the litmus test. .

#2: If your belief commands you to kill anyone who leaves your organization then you fail the litmus test.

#3: If your belief demands you kill or enslave anyone who writes, draws, speaks negatively about your belief you fail the litmus test.

The Baptists haven't declared war on other religions.
The Baptists haven't flown any airplanes into buildings lately.
The Baptists don't behead non-Baptists in the name of their diety.
The Baptists....need I go on?

Besides, if radical Baptist-extremists did any of these things, I'm fairly certain that mainstream Baptists would be speaking up and doing something about it.

One would first have to come to the conclusion of moral equivalence between a Baptist and a Muslim. Islam is a political philosophy, not a religion. Therefore your point is moot.
