Test results on Mario Scaramella, the man feared to be the second victim of a Russian hit squad widely blamed for the death of spy Alexander Litvinenko, shows no sign of radiation poisoning.
The Italian academic who met the ex-KGB man on the day he was allegedly poisoned, was admitted to hospital on Friday having tested positive for a "significant" quantity of the radioactive substance.
Health chiefs confirmed on Friday night that Mr Scaramella had traces of deadly polonium 210, which is believed to have killed Mr Litvinenko, in his body.
But doctors at London's University College Hospital have said that preliminary tests had found "no evidence of radiation toxicity". A spokesman added "he is well".

Very bizarre.
He's not off the hook ... his cancer risk just increased exponentially.
Wonder what Barbara Hatch Rosenberg has to say about this one?
Me thinks this is the dose they meant to give to Alexander. No one would have ever thought of poisoning if he just out of the blue comes down with cancer. That happens all the time.
"Scaramella"......sounds like something straight out of a Bond movie!
Maybe this guys IS the HITMAN!?
Apparently that is what Litivenko came to believe.
I'm not sure what to think of this. Thinking of him as a victim sure took the heat off of him as a suspect. Now what?
Besides his sealf-learnt skills in refining and weaponizing anthrax, Hatifll knows how to whip up a whole lot of Poloinum 210 with using only a Cusinart, curdled milk and radar gun.
The Brits need to keep an eye on him...
Maybe they could drain a lake.
