BUSH TO EASE RULE LIMITING HIV-POSITIVE FOREIGN VISITORS
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | Dec. 3, 2006 | Sabin Russell

President Bush will ease a long-standing rule barring HIV-positive people from entering the United States without a special waiver, a ban long criticized by human rights groups.

Because of the rule, organizers of the biannual International AIDS Conferences have not held a gathering in the United States since 1990, when San Francisco hosted the event.

The White House chose Friday, World AIDS Day, to announce that Bush would issue an executive order allowing HIV-positive people to enter the United States on short-term tourist or business visas without having to seek special permission.

Do we really need to import disease into America? We're already medicating half of Mexico, who has brought drug-resistant TB to us. If these HIV-infected visitors don't go home, will it be our responsibility to medicate them too?

Nice move Bush -- just what we need. Why doesn't he just "ease restrictions" on Islamofascists hell-bent on killing Americans?? It would be equally popular. The continued pandering to the far left just keeps getting better.

Let's all pile on Bush now. Forget facts, forget the source, just read the headline, let's just bash, bash, bash!

Bush declared that "we have a duty to do something about this epidemic.'' He cited his $15 billion, five-year overseas AIDS relief effort, which Dybul -- an AIDS physician who once treated patients in San Francisco -- now runs.

Who gives more money for AIDS relief than the US?
They need help yes but to allow unfettered access to a group that is already defined as "epidemic" is simply suicidal.

Well, is this false?

If it's true, it's just another in a series of bitter disappointments.
