Fox News just reported that the helicopter pilot who found the family's car said that he found the car by following the father's footprints.
You owe the deceased a huge apology.
FOX reported that the helicopter pilot spotted Kim's footsteps and followed them back to the car!
So, his actions may have saved his family after all.
I know what you mean.
True but there are a far greater amount of rude people on now than there were on over five years ago.
You think? I have never thought of myself that way.
Most people who know me do not think of me as being "Pure Evil". Maybe it is because you see me as just "one brain-dead old broad", that it is easy for you to see me a "Pure Evil".
Most people are a bit more complicated than that, in my humble opinion.
Another report is that he walked 8 miles down the road from the car before heading off into the woods. Also noted that with the snow cover (obviously no car had been down it in more than a week, before the snow had fallen) you can be walking on what you think is the road and then quickly be off the road without even knowing it.
Nancy Grace giving lots of coverage to this right now. If you can get past the tacky alternating title bar "MISSING FATHER FOUND DEAD" "CALL NANCY GRACE TONIGHT!"
But in fairness, she can certainly relate to the wife who just lost her husband, since she went through that, too (in a different manner.)
Modern media has won, and I now am somewhat cynical. Many people have tried to manipulate the media for personal gain. It is getting very hard to separate the wheat from the chaff! <<<<<<<<<<<<
How hard would it have been to give this family the benefit of the doubt? Has there been a plethora of young families staging tragdies to get book deals? Just on the off chance that these people were legitimately in a crisis, could you not have held your tongue long enough to find out? "Being cynical" is nothing more than an excuse for bad manners and rudeness. Hopefully you won't file this tragedy away as a book deal stunt gone wrong.
I can't watch Nancy Grace. I already feel nauseated by some of the what I perceive to be as evil posts on this thread and others. Nancy Grace would probably condemn my head to the toilet for the rest of the night. I do appreciate the "heads up" to others carrying this heart-wrenching story, though.
Maybe it is a San Francisco "kind of mind" thing. But, I am upset that she risked this with her little ones. I surely hope it wasn't with a "book" in mind...
Please, before you all jump on me, consider my advanced age. Us older mothers would never have ventured out with our babies this way. Either they are clueless, or looking for a good story. Time will tell, of course. I do hope the father is found alive and well.
But, something about this stinks to me. They are either dumb enough to qualify for a Darwin award, or they are looking for "fame, glory and a good 15 minute story".

Will Nancy Grace get the newly widowed mother to commit suicide?
I've been guilty of making callous statements in the past of which I have regreted. I am certainly far from perfect. With that said, if I'd made the statements you made in light of this tragedy, my head would be hung in shame. I certainly wouldn't have the audacity to come here after the poor man that gave his life trying to save his family has been found dead and attempt to justify those ill-conceived statements. Granted, yours were not the only horrifying statements, but as an older woman one would think you to be wiser. Unfair possibly, but there it is.
Friend, what's the sense in inciting arguments on a thread that should rightfully be reserved for sincere discussions about this man and his family? The comments were made, and I agree that they were in poor taste, but what's done is done. Why resurrect this on a thread such as this one?
Their mother breast fed both children, and her milk is body temperature, and when she holds the child, she is holding a virtual hot water bottle - nature is good that way. She is the only one who would have to keep herself hydrated with melted snow.
1. Holes can easily be dug with a tire iron, which the car presumably had. The hole itself could be lined with plastic or, if the ground is frozen, could itself be the container.
2. They're said to have had a fire, which could melt the snow ... the question was storage of water. A plastic bag, suspended near the fire, would have worked well, too.
Once you've got the fire, it's not that tough to get water when there's snow around. And, in a forest, I think it's probably possible to keep the fire going once it's lit. Smoke signals, too, seem possible.
Is that a good enough physics explanation?
Anyway, he walked 8 miles west back up the road towards the main road, and somewhere in this area he left the road and heading south and then east, descending along the creeks. He made it 4.5 to 5 miles (depending on reports) and his body was found within a 1/2 mile (south or southeast) of the car (and about 1/2 mile southwest of where Big Windy Creek/Rogue River), but much lower in elevation.
When they first found Kati, she said she thought he had taken the strobe flash from their camera, but couldn't be sure.
My guess is that he wants the thrill of taking my comments out of the entire context, ignoring my explanations, given here, and on the other thread.
This way, he can have a momentary sense of moral superiority by calling me a "Pure Evil Brain-Dead Old Broad".
I am going to drop it, for this certainly doesn't advance anyone's understanding about avoiding this kind of catastrophe in the future...
Actually, I shouldn't have responded in the first place to his comment on this thread, and it would have been ignored. Shame on me!
