BAGHDAD, Dec. 8 — One of the most coveted jobs in Iraq does not yet exist: the executioner for Saddam Hussein. The death sentence against Mr. Hussein is still under review by an appeals court, but hundreds of people have already started lobbying the prime minister’s office for the position.
They have sent messages through cabinet officials and their assistants, and by way of government guards and clerical workers. One candidate, an Iraqi Shiite living in London whose brother was killed by Mr. Hussein, telephoned an aide to the prime minister to say he was prepared to drop everything and fly to Baghdad to execute the former ruler.
“One of the hardest tasks will be to determine who gets to be the hangman because so many people want revenge for the loss of their loved ones,” said Basam Ridha, an adviser to Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.
Mr. Hussein and two of his top associates, Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti and Awad al-Bandar, were sentenced to “death by hanging” on Nov. 5 for their involvement in the arrest and killings of 148 men and boys after an assassination attempt against him in the town of Dujail in 1982. The nine-judge appeals bench has no time limit to issue its ruling, but if it upholds the death sentence, Mr. Hussein’s execution must be carried out within 30 days.

Have a lottery here and in Iraq.Sell the tickets for 20 bucks each.I'll buy a couple, and I bet half the folks here would too.
The sooner the better. Then the families of those he tortured and/or murdered and those he just tortured can begin the long road of healing of their spirit.
I agree
......Then the families of those he tortured ......
More iportantly, the families of those who still fight for a lost cause can find a course for normal lives.
The deaths of Saddam et al will provide the basis for reconcilliation. As long as alive, some will fight on because if Saddam is freed, they will die for not fighting.
This is what you do. The person or persons who kills the most jihadists gets the chance.
Exactly!!!
Didn't want you to miss this one!
How about they get a long rope about a mile long and let everybody get in on the act of hanging him.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
Let him be hanged by the lower neck [i.e. by the appendages].
Looks like Chicago gave up waiting for Terrible Tommy OConnor.
Make a relative of Saddam do it.
That's Saddam's way.
Or they could do like they do in US Executions, where multiple "triggers" are used, but only one works (or doesn't work):
Ten members (or 20, or whatever) have a lever to pull, which will open the trapdoor. Of course, only one lever will actually open the trapdoor. They won't know which one, yet each one will think that they did it. End result: Ramsey Clark's best friend and meal ticket will die.
(In lethal injections, as I understand, two people push a button to start the drugs, but only one works; in the firing squad, one of the officers has a blank, but no one knows which)
Since O'Connor's sentence specified he was to die by the rope, if he was recaptured he could not be electrocuted. He had to be hanged. Instead of being scrapped, the gallows was dismantled and relegated to a jail basement, where it remained, unused, for 50 years.

Would be worth more than a fight between Muhamaad Ali and George Foreman..
Hold a national lottery!
I'm kinda worried about a hangin. There's not a "dead enough"-ness about it. Conspiracy theories of his death will be rampant.
