McALLEN A maintenance worker at Bentsen Tower was arrested earlier this week and charged with using someone elses identity to secure a job at the federal building, authorities said on Wednesday.
Investigators are still trying to determine if Celestino Santiago Ortega-Lagunes used his job to gain access to the sensitive documents stored at the building, said Immigration Customs and Enforcement spokeswoman Nina Pruneda.
The building, located on Business 83 and Bicentennial Boulevard, houses federal courts and the local offices of ICE, the U.S. Marshals and the U.S. Attorneys Office, among others.
Ortega-Lagunes, 26, who is originally from Mexico, is accused of misusing a visa and other official U.S. documents, Pruneda said. He appeared before a federal judge Tuesday on that charge.
In addition, he has been placed in removal proceedings because he is accused of illegally entering the United States.
Pruneda was not sure about the exact nature of Ortega-Lagunes work, or how long he had been employed at the federal building. But Ortega-Lagunes had access to the entire facility.

Misusing the visas Americans won't misuse
Working in Federal Buildings Americans refuse to work in?
Think about this: you go to another country and steal an identity in order to get a job. Then do you (1) apply to work in a government facility with highly sensitive information (2) work in a low profile place.
..anyone wanna guess...he won't be deported.
Doogle
We (Americans) should forget about this incident. This guy is obviously not gathering information to use against America. Yes, I realize, he is akin to a KGB agent working at the Pentagon, but there must be a reward given to this person for his crime. How about a free citizenship and the right to vote!?!
ACLU attorneys will handle his appeals...and bill the gubmint $500.00/hour.
He probaqbly already votes.
Well at least we can offer him free citizenship....
We the taxpaying public should be overjoyed. /s
This is gettin' to be about like watching something concocted by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Or Hee Haw, can't figure out which.
The gummit just ferreted out six illegals working at Hartsfield-Jackson with access to the tarmac - and everything else.
