Bill, your view of your home state may be unduely pessimistic.

LBJ was elected by 86 dead Mexicans. Nowadays, he would have been elected in a landslide of illegal voters, who have the dubious political advantage of at least being alive.

That's some sort of civic improvement. I guess. Feliz Navidad, vaquero!

Am i too pessimistic?

Here's some civic improvement: The former Attorney General of Texas, Dan Morales, was recently paroled to a halway hourse after spending part of his four year sentence in the Federal slammer for giving a lawyer friend a $520 million slice of the Big Tobacco settlement pie as wlll as Income tax violations and mail fraud.

The lawyer did no work, but submitted a bill for lots of hours. Why does that not surprise me.
