I found this very interesting. I do not, however, understand what the author refers to in this sentence: "The importance of understanding, and conserving, that historic experiment could not be more urgent today as President George W Bush attempts to hijack the protective neutrality of Americas state secularism with evangelical convictions."
If there have been attempts on the part of the President to "hijack" anything with evangelical convictions, I have missed it entirely.

Me, too. The Supreme Court has actively promoted America's state secularism as a mandated state religion.
