"He was either going to kill the officers or be killed," Walters said. "Fortunately, the right person got killed."

That is true, good job officers!!

An illegal immigrant who had been deported from the United States several times ... died in a shooting with officers who tracked him to a taco stand in Santa Ana

Subtitle to the thread:

Ode to the Humble Tacos

It's nice to see the good guys came out alive on this one.

"WND also has been reporting on a growing list of illegal immigrants who have not only ignored U.S. immigration laws, but state laws against drinking and driving as well, killing innocents on the highways in the process."

There are only 30 to 40 million of them!

I'm wondering when charges of police brutality will be made against the cops that shot this POS.

Oscar Gabriel Gallegos, wanted for the shooting of Long Beach officers Abram Yap and Roy Wade Jr. as they sat in their squad car Dec. 22, died while trying to shoot three of his officers with a .40-caliber Glock equipped with a laser sight. Walters told the Orange County Register that Gallegos carried two fully loaded magazines in his pocket during the confrontation.

Damn! That's some serious firepower!

"An illegal immigrant who had been deported from the United States several times but returned each time.."

It's about time that we give these illegal aliens amnesty so that they don't have to go through the effort of coming back each time. This poor guy would still be alive if we had been more compassionate. All our fault.

Seeing how Amnesty will be law next year, it will be interesting to
see if "screening" is any better than it was with the 1986 Amensty.

Here's one of my favorite cases for NEVER doing a blanket Amnesty
for illegals.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmud_Abouhalima

Mahmud Abouhalima (born 1959) is a convicted perpetrator of the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing. His red hair earned him the nickname Mahmud the Red

(snip)

He flew to Brooklyn with his new wife and after his American tourist visa expired, applied for amnesty claiming to be an agricultural worker and was accepted as a permanent resident under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

He worked as a New York cabdriver for five years from 1986-1991, though he saw his license suspended ten times during that period, for failing to attend traffic court for cab violations including traffic violations and an attempt to overcharge a customer.

This is the same shooter from this post on 12/22/06.

Police issued a warrant for Gallegos' arrest
on charges of attempted murder of a police officer.
They urged to the public to help but warned that
Gallegos should be considered "armed and extremely
dangerous."

Batts described Gallegos as a "known thug" and said his
first arrest was in 1990 in Long Beach on a firearms
violation. He was deported in 1994, he said.
