Prsent genealogical research is based on the less than tenable theory that a woman's husband was always the biological father of her children. DNA research may put a crimp in this theory.

Promiscuity was certainly more common than most would think.

Also, certain traits such as sickle cell are a result of response to environment.

The DNA family studies I've looked at (ones where a number of people are researching a related ancestory), and have tested people in the same purported lines) have shown an amazing amount of faithfulness...more than modern assumptions would lead one to believe...
