Parents of Boise State star running back don't have football
BOISE, Idaho The parents of Boise State star running back Ian Johnson say they don't have the football their son threw into the stands moments after he scored the game-winning two points.
Colleen Johnson says Ian Johnson meant to throw the ball to his dad after the two-point conversion gave the Broncos a 43-42 overtime win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day in Glendale, Arizona.
But in the excitement of the moment, the left-hander threw the ball with his right hand.
She also says he threw the ball 20 rows beyond where she and her husband were watching the game.
Colleen Johnson says she then lost track of the ball because she was knocked down by fans storming the field.
Whoever ended up with the ball remains a mystery.

This is quite a souveneir. I hope the school gets it back. When will someone squeal or turn in a ransom note?
Obviously they called the right play.
He didn't think in all the excitement. Someone has it and will likely have it up on e-Bay in a day or so.
How do they know if someone did turn in a football if it is authentically the one he threw in the stands. Furthermore, finders keepers...
Nope, it's in Rosie's pants.
That means she's got three now.
Well, I suspect that it had some official Fiesta Bowl markings on it. When it was retrieved, there had to be many witnesses. It really would be a great story if someone sends the school a ransom note.
Sorry, you throw it randomly in the stands, and it's gone.
Sounds about right to me.
Yep. Watch Ebay. One of the sixteen footballs on sale might be the right one...

The person who got it knows it has value. I expect there may be a reward.
Two teams we beat. One with the same record, get ranked ahead us of?! Nice going O'Brien I'm glad you're out of Boston. Can't wait to kick your predictable ass when you bring NC State to Alumni.
This is curious. Apparently he is left-handed, but he threw it into the stands with his right hand. How could he overshoot by 20 rows with the off hand. Maybe he's ambidextrous.
Nobody would suspect a thing as she exited the stadium as the ball would look no different than a roll of fat.
One person had the guts to vote for Boise State as number one!
Most entertaining game ever
Not always. Some "finders" have a bit of class and realize how much it means to the player, and how little it means to himself.....
Give it a couple of days and it'll show up on eBay.
Let's see. Vanderbilt beat Number 23. Number 23 beat number 9. (and Number 19). Number 9 beat number 1.
So either Vanderbilt or Boise State should be Number 1.
I'd pick unbeaten Boise State.
I'd think that he's not as ambi as he would like to believe considering he overshot by as many rows.
How many feet per row are we talking about?
