What is the real deal concerning Richard Clarke?

He may have been wise and alert in both administrations, but he still slammed W and Co. in his book and bashed them to no end on his talk show tour. As a reward, he is now a "terror expert" for ABC News. I think the deal with Richard Clarke is that he's looking out for Richard Clarke.
