SAY GENOCIDE, AND ARMENIA IT
New York Post ^ | January 26, 2006 | Kyle Smith

January 26, 2007 -- SO I went to this metal concert, and it turned out to be a lesson about the Armenian genocide of 1915. Color me stoked!

"Screamers," one of the most bizarre documentaries you'll ever not see, follows the hopelessly generic rock band System of a Down on tour as they wag their goatees over their signature issue: recognition that the Turks committed genocide in their slaughter of the Armenians in 1915.

KEYWORDS: armenia; genocide; screamers; systemofadown
This is a strongly worded article. I am vaguely familiar with "System..." Any thoughts on this?

"Possibly they have appointed themselves the "screamers" about this nonissue "

Nonissue??

Genocide denial is what allows genocide to happen.

we just had a showing at my synagogue of "Screamers". some members of the band System of a Down came to speak afterwards. the point of the evening was genocide awareness, particularly the situation in the Sudan. rough language aside, the message of this movie is a good one and it speaks to young adults particularly, through the band connection. this band isn't making up their seriousness about informing about the Armenian Genocide. every Armenian living here can tell you stories from their parents, grandparents, now great grandparents, of the horrors these people endured in 1915 and following.

It seems more likely, though, that they actually believe that passing a symbolic resolution through Congress about recognizing the genocide - thus accomplishing nothing except annoying Turkey, our only Muslim NATO ally - is the most vital issue facing the U.S. today.

Yup. Losing strong Turkish support of American foreign policy would be a big problem. They might even pull coalition forces from Turkey out of Iraq and start meddling in Northern Iraq.

uh...Turkey gave up whatever consessiuons they could wring out of the US when they denied us use of their land to launch a northern assault. They can go F off as far as I am concerned. And I say to their posturing invasion rhetoric of N Iraq - Try it bastards - you'll get a beat down that you'll remember for some time to come...

The armenenian genocide is a good arguement that every home requires a military grade rifle and lots of ammo.

I told this to an armenian preacher and he seemed rather shocked. He did stop pestering me to join his church tho :-)

Whats the punchline?

When a group is openly advocating the destruction of all who do not agree with them, is it wrong to kill every last one of them?

You are describing war, not genocide.

I'm describing the war on terrorism. Whether anyone dare say it, it is a war on a large number of muhammadans who need to be exterminated. It's not quite the same as what Hitler did to the Jews and other ethnic minorities. These bastards are the aggressors

THE US needs to link a nation's deeds with our support of it.

Turkey should have long ago lost our support.

yeah well thats true. before the genocides (because there was actually 2) the armenians were told to hand over all their weapons, but the turks and kurds were allowed to keep theirs.
never let go of your rifle! better to die fighting than a turks dagger
