The state House gave final approval Monday to a proposed law that would make it easier for workers to organize...
House Bill 1072...changes Colorado's Labor Peace Act, which has been on the books since 1943.
Business groups oppose the measure, saying making it easier to require all workers to pay union dues will deter prospective employees and employers looking to locate in Colorado.
The full House passed the bill 35-29 Friday, with almost all Democrats for it and all Republicans against...
A main sticking point among Republicans: All-union agreements require all of a company's employees to pay union dues as a condition of employment. But while they must pay fees, workers can't be forced to join a union.
"This is a major piece of legislation that will significantly impact the economic environment of Colorado," Rep. Kevin Lundberg, R-Berthoud said.
"It is bad for the people of Colorado."

with the Democrats now in control of both houses of the Legislature and the governor's mansion, they may see this as their opportunity to right an old wrong.
Colorado Democrats, and the governor in particular, are where they are because they persuaded the voters that they are pragmatic problem-solvers - and not big-spending, anti-business partisans ...

Shakedown!
Some of this union money then goes for political uses : campaign cash for DUmmie re-election ads and also 'get out the vote' efforts for DUmmie politicans...
Unions spent more than $100 million getting out the vote, knocked on millions of doors and delivered Election Day support to Democrats running for the House by a more than 2-to-1 ratio.
Now organized labor is spelling out what it wants from the new Democratic Congress.
The priorities include raising the minimum wage, expanding health care and improving pension protections.
AFL-CIO President John Sweeney sees the elections as a "mandate for a union agenda."
Can unions force workers to contribute money to causes they object to: like if some of the dues goes to abortion on demand programs ?
Face it, Democrats deliver to their supporters, Republicans delivered to themselves.
I think that you are correct.
This is just the beginning

Colorado is going to be more expensive soon
tax rates will go up, fees will go up, business costs will go up...
sad
Maybe the stupid business people who like to give to both parties will wise up.
But I'm not holding my breath.
HB-1072 (the Dems pay-back to the unions for past and future election help) went flying through on a party line vote, and they will be speeding it through the Senate this week, and Ritter has indicated that he will sign it. This bill will end employees being able to have a secret ballot; it will end employees being able to vote on the actual compulsory union-shop agreement, and it ends the guarantee that a majority have approved the agreement that will be enforced upon on 100% of the employer's employees.
HB-1072 will cost folks more for their food, etc...
and will hurt those least able to pay for higher prices.
But good for the union bosses and the democrat party who will get more money and 'free' labor for their re-elections .
Of all the mountain states, Colorado has the highest taxes and highest costs for such things as health care from what I've read. We have nobody to blame but ourselves because we voted for liberal Republicans in the past and liberal Democrats now.
The state is not trending well.
The newbies are liberal, lots of outside liberal money, the R leaders are making terrible decisions, Owen's messes...
Idaho passed "right to work" laws before I moved to Pocatello. The unions hate it. Idaho also passed a law that requires unions to itemize the amount of money directed to political campaigns that comes from union dues. Union members are permitted to omit that amount from the union dues if they object to the use of the money to support causes they don't support. Unions hate that too.
When I worked at PacBell, there were certain "union shops" inside the company. If a non-management person had the misfortune to get assigned to those "shops", they were forced to pay union dues...member or not. They were also subject to being "fined" by the union if they worked during a union strike. It always pissed me off that PacBell management would sign off on that kind of unjust terms in a union contract. Spineless.
I have lots of family and friends in Colorado...or I might leave.
If I was young and wanting to start a future : the rising costs of higher tax rates, higher governmental mandated expenses, increasing governmental regulations, etc. would weight very heavy on my choices.
Denver is an open city for Mexicans and other illegals. It is a magnet for gifters. Even the National DUmmies see this.
sad.
