Conservatives are offering a curious explanation for the drubbing they took at the polls: they blame the Republicans. The 2006 elections were not a conservative defeat, you see; they were a Republican one, a rejection of a party that had strayed too far from the conservative path. John McCain put the point nicely: "Americans had elected us to change government, and they rejected us because they believed government had changed us." The corollary is that McCain--along with many other, more reliable conservative spokesmen--believes that most Americans remain quietly conservative. But this latent center-right majority, he argues, needs reassuring that in 2008 the GOP will once again hew to true-blue (pardon the term) conservative principles.

You should go back and read Post #14. That was Bush's man up there in New Hampshire preaching the new Gospel according to the NeoCons.
I have a burning desire to go into a voting booth in 2008 and not have to hold my nose again.
Maybe we could require all Republican candidates to sign a pledge to uphold the 10th amendment to the Constitution. I know they all take an oath once elected to uphold the Constitution, but I don't know if they have their fingers crossed...or they do like President Bush and redact the 10th amendment.
