I think it's pretty obvious that these players are near the poverty line.
The new minimum wage law should help stop these crimes.

Poverty is the root cause of crime doncha know.

Where is Don Shula when we need him.
He would not accept a criminal or a fumbler.

the company we keep tells a lot about who we are ...

Chad Johnson didn't exactly grow up in a privileged environment. My understanding is, yes he knew the victim for a number of years and had seen him recently. They didn't hang out together it was just someone Chad knew from the old neighborhood and were on friendly terms.

This is the song that never ends... It just goes on and on my friends... Some people started singing it not knowing what it was... And they'll continue singing it forever just because... This is the song....

Ah, you know the rest. They need to clean house and start over at this point. Pretty soon all the Raiders fans around here will be Bengals fans.

I was really angered when I found out on FOX News that a judge waived Tank Williams' Court Order not to leave the state so he could go play in the Super Bowl. He's facing a couple of felony charges.

But, of course, the wealthy and celebrities DO get the same treatment in the justice system as a kid from the ghetto. (Sarc.)

If the Tankster was 3rd on the depth chart he'd be watching the game from a bar.

It doesn't matter. Unless there is any evidence of the slightest suspicion regarding Johnson, drawing an inference of guilt simply because the police talked to him is totally unfair.

You're missing the point (I didn't explain my perspective either) ... the continual negative perception of the franchise has to come to an end. Regardless of innocence or guilt, it's the association that relates to customers, advertisers and league sponsors.

Okay, that point is well taken, and this thread is proof that you're correct.

So when is Marvin Lewis going to be fired?

He's the new "Barry Switzer" of the NFL.

It's not that tough to get a waiver on a no travel court order pending trial. You just have to establish to the judge that you are indeed not a flight risk, by reporting to law enforcement periodically along the way, or posting a huge bond, or by establishing that what you're doing is public enough that any idiot with a TV could monitor your movements. Given that for this trip Tank is going to be on camera nearly every day it's hard to think he'll have a good chance to slip away.

I wonder on here how many realize that the Chargers only have 1 fewer arrest than the Bengals, and the Chargers, um, charges were far more serious.

And that the Ravens have people who were people of interest in murder investigations on their team.

I think the Chargers are up to 8 arrests. (actually, now I see that is 8 since april. from this story:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nfl&id=2748890

Chad was being questioned because he knew the guy. He is not caught red-handed.

Marvin the Mediocre had better get his act together. Behavior problems would be forgiven if he could post better than .500 records. that said, this incident has nothing to do with anything. Chad was answering questions in a case involving the death of someone he knew.

Among my past acquaintances, I know at least 1) murderer, 2) a guy who committed vehicular homicide, 3) drug dealers, etc., etc. You grow apart from people, and some you knew in your youth don't turn out so good. I hope no one thinks I am any of the above just because I once knew these kinds of people.

After another underachieving season. 4 years, 3 8-8 records with that kind of talent is not going to cut it. He has earned a pass hitherto for changing the culture, but it's not going to be enough to save him unless he starts getting results.
