100 Year Vision (for America)
WesPAC: Wesley Clark's PAC ^ | Wesley Clark

Posted on 02/02/2007 8:19:27 AM PST by DBCJR

...the United States will be defined by our environment, both our physical environment and our legal, Constitutional environment...we must do more to protect our natural resources, enabling us to extend their economic value indefinitely... We may also have to assist market-driven adjustments... with transparency and accountability,....we will assure continued access to the courts... and a vibrant competitive media that informs our people and enables their effective participation in civic life...

If we are to remain competitive we will have to do more to develop our "human potential." ... we should help every American...For some this means only providing a framework of opportunities -- for others it means more direct assistance in areas such as education, health care, and retirement security.... that each American will have access to the diagnostic, preventive and acute health care and medicines needed for productive life, as well as some basic level of financial security in his or her retirement.

...we will have to get the resources and responsibilities right....this means allocating responsibilities properly between public and private entities. Neither government nor "the market" is a universal tool -- each must be used appropriately...We need to return to the aims of the 1990's when we sought to balance our federal budget and reduce the long-term public debt. Finally, it means properly allocating public responsibilities... retaining government regulation where necessary to meet public needs, and balancing the federal government's strengths of standardization and progressive financing with greater insights into the particular needs and challenges that State and local authorities bring.... we must also improve the business climate in the United States. This is not simply a matter of reducing interest rates and stimulating demand...to reduce unemployment to the levels achieved in the Clinton Administration,... and ... enable long overdue hikes in the minimum wage in this country.

Clark's vision (by a near-sighted "has been" general & a "never was" presidential candidate) is skewed. He manipulates facts to set the stage for greater government control. The Clinton economy he refers to was predicated on unbridled consumption and the resulting massive consumer debt. This faltering economy was in recession at the time George W. Bush took office. His father, Bush, Sr., left Clinton an economy that, after Clinton's second day in office, Clinton announced was on the upswing.

It is too easy to believe the terrible forecasts of Democrats and the liberal media because we are surrounded by them. But here are the facts:

1) Bush's economy survived and rebounded the worst hit at the heart of our financial district on 9/11. Entire financial service companies were wiped out. Our airlines were all in a death spiral toward bankrupty. 2) Yet, under his leadership we have the longest sustainable economic growth, within acceptable inflation rates, in our history. 3) Job creation is at an all time high and unemployment rates are quite low.

Don't let liberal Democrats and the liberal media cause you to give up hope or be discouraged!

A hundred years from now I fear that we will be a hispanic country and that China will have overtaken us as the worlds dominant superpower.

This guy, with a tad of rabidity added, would be the equivalent of Kucinich. Time for him to surrender and go fishing or something benign rather than trying to change our country.

For accuracy, please replace "must be" with "is".

Clark's "vision" reads like an 11th grade term paper. Is this the best he can come up with?

Dear Weasley Clark,

Our country will be great in 100 years if you and others like you do what they did for our first 100 years, namely:

Get out of our way and let us make it great! Keep your interference to a minimum and take a minimum of OUR money to fund your parasitic lifestyle. That is all.

Disrespectfully, John Q. Public

as well as some basic level of financial security in his or her retirement.

This whole concept of "retirement" is a little funky. If it means quitting your miserable job as soon as you can, so you can live off an income and not work, I say best of luck, but you aint entitled to it, and I dont feel inclined to help just anyone.

I love what I do. I don't ever plan on quitting til I'm dead. And hopefully I can keep going after that! So to me "retirement" means disabled or dead. I'd have to be unable, and then that's not "retirement" anymore, it's not being able to work.

Huh? How did Weasley ever make it to general officer rank?

But Wes Clark is.

looks like a communist manifesto to me. And I didn't need to move on to the link to know what he says.

Sure it sounds good. But looking to the fine print it pretty much infers that the Constitution will have to be revised to obtain a better "blend" (my word) of power.

I wouldn't be surprised if you told me that in 100 years we would be merged with Canada and Mexico to compete in the global market. And the Constitution is completely skewered. But that will probably happen long before 100 years.

I have been thinking the same thing. If we are going to stay competitive with the Asian mega-countries (China, India, Russia) over the next century we are going to need a population at least half of theirs which is double what we have now.

I just wish we would be more selective about who we let in here. I have a feeling there will be a lot of immigrants from western Europe as that area becomes dominated by Muslims.

We have in the past and will continue to let in whoever works for the lowest amount of pay.
