LEEDS, Maine (AP) - A high school basketball coach was fired after telling his players at halftime to reach into their pants to "check their manhood," administrators said.
Leavitt Area High School Principal Patrick Hartnett said coach Mike Remillard told the varsity boys Jan. 23 that "tonight's game was about who had the biggest (male genitalia) in town." "He then required his players to all stand up and put their hands down their pants and check their manhood," Hartnett said in the statement, which was read to school board members Thursday by Superintendent Thomas J. Hanson a day after the coach was dismissed.
All but one player followed the coach's instructions, Hartnett said. The team won the game.

I think it's stupid the guy got fired and I don't like the wussification of American males, but I never understood the "ife-or-death" impetus on h.s. sports. It's just a glorified game of fetch.

Our country is descending faster and faster into wimpiness.
Its important when its your job to win games for the school and you care about the development of young boys into men. Had my high school football coach not given me some of the pep talks he did, I dont think I would be nearly as competitive today and my success would suffer for it.
Years after I left the school, my old wrestling coach was fired from his job after getting busted for some similar Mickey Mouse BS. Really ticked me off, since after reading the article it was obvious the kid really did have a kick in the ass coming to him.
