It didn't take long for the boo birds to come out. LOL!
God bless 'em! They haven't been able to lay a glove on Hunter yet, and they certainly do help keep the threads going!

"Not electable"
...And I'm glad.
I don't see this candidate appealing to anyone other than the most socially conservative, xenophobic, and economically illiterate members of the 55+ male demographic.
As far as I can tell, he wants to tell Americans who they are allowed to sleep with, what medical options are permissable, and limit American activity in free-trade channels.
I'd call him a socialist - a Christian socialist, but a socialist for sure.
To: Antoninus
I grew up in San Diego. And despite being in a state where liberalism reigns, he gets voted in. He is moderate, but he is also very conservative. People in So Cal love the man.
As far as a candidate, I am concerned about him not having Governor experience. I also hate to see someone like him leave California where more men like him are needed. Regardless, he's by no means perfect, but outside of knowing his campaign platform, he's strong, conservative, and I see a lot of potential.

He scares the Rockefeller/Country club wing of the party. I like that.
He also scares the Dems.... Gotta like that, too.

I'm behind him. And I wasn't even planning to vote Republican next election.
To: zbigreddogz
Oh, I also forgot, he's anti-free trade...
Really? Based on what he says, he sounds like a Reagan Republican on trade...

So if I told you I was a 23 year old woman would that change your mind, or are you just in the business of slinging mud for the heck of it?

Oh, I don't really care, I just think it's funny. He's so clearly going nowhere I kind of get a kick of messing with the people who don't see this.
The fact that you naysayers are drawn to the Hunter threads like moths to a flame tells me all I need to know. His name is getting out there. If you really thought Hunter was a non-entity, you wouldn't even bother posting to these threads...

Too conservative for this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel". He will be vilified by his own party much less the commies. Let's see if Newt runs, the staying power of Tancredo & how Duncan fends off his opponents but no doubt one of these 3 will have my vote. The rest can pound sand.

You get your kicks in a very weird way, but if it makes you happy...
Whether or not he's going somewhere, why not leave it up to the electorate to decide. That is why we have elections. Who knows... maybe 2008 will be the year of the underdog.
Furthermore, if these good folks who support Hunter believe their votes are better served by voting third party and not for a person they consider out of step with their values then they have every right to vote their conscience. I stand by their right to do so.

Like when Buchanan ran 3rd party in 2000? LOL!
Bush ran strongly on pro-life, pro-family, pro-2A themes and was endorsed by all the major groups.
How do you think Rudy will fare in those areas?
Never mind, I'll answer my own question. He'll be dead meat.

Did you read what I said?
He's a threat to breaking up the coalition for the eventual nominee, not because I think he has a dog's chance in hell of winning, because he doesn't.
That, and like I said, I just enjoy taunting people who are so blind as to not see this. It's kinda funny.

$700 billion trade deficit or 5.3% of GDP and we are the ones who are going to destroy the economy.A trade deficit is meaningless. I suggest you study up on economics, particularly what Adam Smith said about trade deficits.
Most of our defense hardware is now from overseas (a good portion of which is from china) but hey at least my DVD player is cheap.
A rivet is a rivet... except when rivets cost .12 a gross from India and $12 a gross from Indiana. I fail to see how paying MORE for an American product helps the economy... it doesn't.
Millions of Hardworking factory workers are out of work, but hey what 40 something father of 2 and a wife wouldn't want to leave a $50,000 a year job with killer benefits for head stocker at Kroger
Boo-f'ing-hoo! Plan your life better. And when things go wrong, man up and do what it takes to care for your family... even if it means swallowing your pride and finally going to get that degree like you should have done at 18.
I mean we only managed to become the prosperous nation we are on "protectionism"
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! But given your atrocious knowledge of economics, I'm not surprised by your lack of sense of history.

It's not going to happen. I know that put all of my resources into defeating anti-trade candidate, I know that I'm not alone. More importantly, I know that those positions alone are going to choke Hunter off from the funding he's going to so desperately need.
