Mich. Young Republicans leader accused in sex case

6:31 p.m.

The Michigan Federation of Young Republicans’ Web site calls group Chairman Michael Flory “one of the rising stars of GOP politics in America.”

Investigators in Cleveland believe the 32-year-old lawyer is also a rapist.

Cleveland detectives have been investigating a 21-year-old woman’s claim that Flory took sexual advantage of her last July 8 while the two were in town for the National Federation of Young Republicans annual convention.

Court records indicate Cuyahoga County prosecutors recently presented a case against Flory to a grand jury, which hasn’t yet finalized any action. Several law-enforcement sources said they expect an indictment Wednesday on multiple charges, including rape and kidnapping.

“He has made my life a living hell,” the young woman said in a brief interview Tuesday.

Flory, who runs two law offices in central Michigan, could not be reached to comment on Tuesday. His Cleveland attorney, William McGinty, declined to remark on the case because the grand jury was still considering it.

“Until there’s any legal proceeding that comes out, I wouldn’t have anything to say,” McGinty said.

Prosecutor Bill Mason said he could not discuss the case until an indictment is filed.

Some more great publicity. BTW, isn't leaking grand jury testimony illegal?

They managed to get the R word into the headline, I see.

If he were a D, he'd just be a "lawyer".

Who knows what the truth is, but Cuyahoga County + statement from anonymous accuser = possible Ronnie Earle situation. Stay tuned.

Gosh, I hope this isn't true. I wonder if she has any DNA of his.

Yeah well after the whole Duke case I am more inclined to believe him than her, and that it is probably some kind of setup to "prevent our young star from rising".

All you young Republicans out there: keep it in your pants till you get married. Who knows what weirdos are out there who will try to ruin you just for a night of fun.

Yes I know this is pure speculation but I don't care!

FYI, they can accuse you of "sexual assault" even if you didn't do anything. "Keeping it in your pants" just ensures no DNA evidence.

And the whole anonymity for accusers should be thrown out the window when they make statements to the press.

By Democratic and US news media standards (I know, totally redundant), that should make him presidential material.

Seduction will be "rape" within our lifetime, and then there will be no sexual joy between men and women.

Women will long for the days of shame and regret.

Men will all be gay.

As per usual, Google won't cough up anything relevant when it comes to the Dems, but this is some background on "Lookee Lookee, just not at me". This guy announced his pending indictment on the floor of the legislature last week. Nerve and gall, nothing but.

http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/16615967.htm

The operative key word in this headline is, "ACCUSED". Too bad that the Republicans are not afforded the same presumptions as the Democrats. Then again, this is the Cleveland Plain Dealer(totally dying) that we must deal with for this "news".

Well, if you're going to chase political women, you don't go with the Democrats.

It's from the New Dealer; it's a hit piece, probably with no truth or substance to it. An article will probably be published 10 days from now, on page 42 of the Style section. to correct the record. Then, from the New Dealer's perspective, all will be well.

okay isn't anyone concerned with the fact that according to the story this girl was ALSO a Young Republican and the alleged was a leader in that organization. According to the story, alcohol was involved...but that is still rape. So if your daughter or sister or girlfriend has a few too many drinks at the bar and a trusted friend or co-worker offers to drive her home and then allegedly assaults her....are you saying that's okay and it would be your daughter/sister/girlfriends fault? Innocent until found guilty yes, but I don't care who the person is and what position in office they hold...if someone did this to my daughters, I wouldn't be defending them until more info is heard. And doesn't a grand jury have to see a pretty decent case presented in order to issue so many charges?

"Stop following and live in a new world."
