Two men arrested after personal records, credit cards, checks, mail recovered at Twin Falls motel
TWIN FALLS - Credit cards, checks, mail and medical records belonging to at least 100 Wood River Valley residents have been seized from a Twin Falls motel room.
Drug paraphernalia also was seized.
The arrests happened about 8 p.m. Thursday at Monterey Motor Inn, 433 Addison Ave. West.
Lucas Busby, 27, of Twin Falls was charged with misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and is free on a $300 bond. Cole Brodoski, age unknown, of Hailey, also was arrested but was released without charges.
Twin Falls police will investigate the cache of private records separately. Police have not arrested either man for identity theft. However, an investigation will be opened when the case is turned over to the detective division.
"He (Officer Clinton S. Doerr) said the list is quite extensive," said Twin Falls police Staff Sgt. Craig Stotts. "There were credit cards that didn't have the arrested party's names on them (and) information on how to reactivate a closed credit card account. Receipts showed the cards were recently used."
Most of the names on the seized material belong to Blaine County residents, Stotts said.
Blaine County Sheriff's Sgt. Jay Davis said there has been no surge in identity theft reports from local residents. He also said most residents receive their mail through post office boxes.
Stotts said Doerr was not able to link the documents he discovered to theft reports in Blaine County.
"Officer Doerr asked our dispatch to check with Blaine County to see if any reports had been taken in regards to stolen mail, stolen records, etc.," Stotts said. "Whoever our dispatch contacted in Blaine County said something to the effect that they could not access their reports at that time."
That was the last contact Twin Fall police had with the Blaine County Sheriff's Department, Stotts said.
Davis said he had not heard about the case but that it was possible another deputy had.

>>charged with misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia and is free on a $300 bond.<<
