Reagan was a former Governor of California, a state large enough to be a country. RR was also mentored by Barry Goldwater and Bill Buckley; he WAS somebody. Everyone knew him, even if they did not like him.
Hunter is a virtual unknown who will need huge media time; the liberal media will ignore him. How is he going to get any traction?
I think the last time a House member jumped to the White House was Benjamin Harrison.
Be realistic. It looks like the conservatives are going to get shutout of the presidential race this time.

Oh and Reagan was deemed too old in 1980. You cite Harrison but one could go all the way back to Washington and find no nominee as old as Reagan. Plus he carried all that Bonzo baggage. There had never been a divorced Prez before Reagan.
Oh it is easy to say in hindsight that it was Reagan's destiny but I was in the trenches for Reagan as a paid field man and remember January of 1980 as a pretty rough time.
