Rep. Rohrabacher: Impeach Bush If Border Agents Killed
Newsmax ^ | February 9, 2007

Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further, suggesting the president should be impeached if the two men are killed in prison.

Speaking after the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed that agent Ignacio Ramos was assaulted by inmates in his Mississippi prison at the weekend, California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher had a warning for the White House.

"I tell you, Mr. President, if these men - especially after this assault - are murdered in prison, or if one of them lose their lives, there's going to be some sort of impeachment talk in Capitol Hill," he said during a press conference in Washington, D.C.

"The president of the United States talks a lot about his Christian charity, and his religious beliefs," Rohrabacher said. "He now is showing a mean-spirited side to him, an arrogance, in which he will turn his back, even after one of these officers in prison has been brutally assaulted."

Bush really ought to pardon those officers. They were just doing their job.

Bush's silence on this one is disquieting.

George W has a trip planned to Mexico I think March 12th. It really doesn't seem like justice was served with the handling of this botched case.

It's about time that conservatives took a stance against this neo-con, globalist President that has done more damage to the GOP than he has done good.

"Impeachment talk? Over this? By Rohrabacher and who else?"

"Other Republican lawmakers taking part in Wednesday's press conference included Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., who said, "The president has lost my respect because he will not step forward to do what is right," and Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., who voiced concern about future implications for the rule of law.

In the absence of a pardon, the lawmakers said the administration should at least consider allowing the agents to go free while their case is heard on appeal.

As a result of additional information that will be brought up during the appeals process, Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo. said, the agents stood a "good chance" of being acquitted. Nevertheless, Tancredo said he is still holding out for a pardon."

He wants the borders wide open for a reason. What that reason is, we can't be certain. If anything bad happens as a result of his policies vis-a-vis the border, he will be impeached.

I don't think Rohrabacher threatening impeachment is going to move the President to this cause. He should try more diplomatic language or he sounds like a moonbat 'Rat.

More rabid threats against Bush from hysterical politicians.

It amazes me how people with so little self control can be elected to anything.

Rohrabacher is clearly off his meds.

Presidential pardon power is a right and privilege, not a duty. Failure to grant a pardon is not a high crime or misdemeanor.

It's fine to urge a pardon. It's total insanity to threaten impeachment for not issuing a pardon.

I've lost all respect I ever had for Rohrabacher.

True, but the Bush Administration has mishandled this case badly. In fact, his whole policy on border security is a flat failure.

It's more intentional than failure.

This country has been forever scarred by the illegal horde and history will say at best he enabled it, and at worse....??

I believe he wants to borders open because he believes in his father's New World Order. A North American Union is simply a piece of the puzzle, and we can't have an NAU with closed borders.

Lesson learned: Never again elect a Skull & Bones elitist masquerading as a conservative to the most powerful position in the world

I'm inclined to agree that this is a little over the top, but for those two Border Agents to be in federal prison over this is criminal. I don't know who's telling Dubya to keep quiet, but they need to be fired yesterday.
