Help with 81mm faked by US claim. (Vanity)
Another Day In The Empire ^ | Patrick Lawrence

Posted on 02/14/2007 2:54:55 PM PST by Sulla123

Hello I was hoping to get some more help with a problem. Kurt Nimmo had written an article about how the 81mm the US said was from Iran was fake. And the article got spread around so I decided to check into it and found that they do make one. I sent him the information and he updated the article with his mistake. The problem is now he is saying the websites with the information are fake. So I was wondering if I could get some help proving the links etc. His site is Link. A link to what got it started and where I posted my information before emailing him Link. Any way thanks in advance for the help and I hope I posted this correctly and in the right place.

His debunking is by Michael Rivero. Maybe one step above Jack Thompson (bat jack).

We equipped Iran with 81mm mortars so they probably manufacture their own ammo for it.

Ain't Rivero that tinfoil hat feller that used to post on FR before Y2K about black helicopters and concentration camps in the USA?

You mean you didn't get incarcerated in a concentration camp? That's one of his less insane rants.

He was by far the most entertaining of the kooks running around FR pre-2000.

For posterity, here is a mirror of Rivero's old website:

And yes, 8 years later, and the words Rancho Runnamukka is still instantly brought to mind when I here that guy's name.

They started off saying Iran did not make 81mm shells. Now they are saying the links myself and others used to prove that Iran did make and sale 81mm rounds are fake websites.

Iran 81mm Mortar Story: Twists, Turns, and Eating Crow
Wednesday February 14th 2007, 11:28 am

It was just yesterday I received an email indicating my assertion the Iranian 81mm mortar story—part and parcel of the neocon effort to finger Iran for killing U.S. soldiers in Iraq—was in error, as it appeared at first glance indeed an Iranian death merchant manufactured 81mm mortar shells, thus debunking my debunking of the neocon effort, not that it particularly matters as the neocons will bomb the smithereens out of Iran regardless of the transparency of their propaganda. In short, I ate a healthy serving of crow, and then set about removing my original post and adding a retraction.

But wait a minute. Not so fast.

In the meantime, Mike Rivero of the news site What Really Happened has completed a bit of investigative work into the supposed death merchant allegedly responsible for cranking out 81mm mortars, said to be in the arsenal of Iraq’s Shi’a militias.

Rivero takes note of spelling inconsistencies, errors, and awful fishy graphic and design details on the supposed death merchant page (see his post on the WRH site). Moreover, the “phone numbers on the contact page are all 7 digit numbers. But in July of 2005, Iran switched over to an 8-digit phone system,” Rivero explains. But what really cinches it is the IP information:

Information related to '213.176.96.0 -
213.176.96.255'

While it is possible the Malek Ashtar University is hosting a web page for an arms merchant, this is, to say the least, highly suspect. In short, the IP information alone leads me to believe there is something extremely fishy about this whole affair.

In response, I am removing my retraction until this can be explained—and for the moment, I will fall back on my original claim: the neocons have falsely attributed the 81mm to the Iranians. Short of more definitive evidence—not likely to come from people who specialize in fabrication evidence, that is to say trading in lies and deception—I maintain the whole thing is a ruse designed to finger Iran and thus build a pretext to bombard that nation.

Here is some of my information...

http://www.diomil.ir/en/amig.aspx?search_id=mb81long. It seems they do make 81mm shells. Several kinds to be exact.

Also notice how English is one language the website is in. And how they use english on there products. Seems english is the language of business and they are in the arms export business.

Edit

Here is another link. http://www.diomil.ir/en/amig.aspx?search_id=mb81smoke. And a photo

http://www.diomil.ir/images/Product/amig/Specifications/mor81high.jpg

Also compare the markings with the images from the evidence. You can see the AZ111-A2. This is the same number for the high exp as the specs sheet that you can see is being linked to from the Iranian website.

With one Yahoo search I found the "Iran Defence Forum", which also lists 81mm mortars as being made in Iran. Link:

http://www.irandefence.net/showthread.php?t=8215

Among other mortars, is the: 81 mm HM15

Hadid 81mm mortar launchers are of unrifled and barrel-loading type with 360o of firing field. Because of possessing high shooting angle, this weapon enables to fire from behind of obstacles. In regions where routs are impracticable, the mortar can be taken apart and carried by infantry. Due to its simple structure, it can be erected and operated only by two or three persons.

Here is what I found when I searched for Hadid mortars:
