A homeowner shoots and kills a man authorities say broke into the family's Bullard home. It happened just after 12:00 p.m. on County Road 150 in Smith County.
The Smith County Sheriff's Department says the owner of Graham Farms came home to find a strange car in his driveway, and the door to his house open. They say Terry Graham shot and killed 34-year-old Hiram J. Chambers, of Tyler, after coming face-to-face with the man. Chambers allegedly reached for something in a bag, and authorities say they later found two loaded weapons.
Chambers was out of jail on parole for a prior home burglary. Graham did not want to comment on camera, but described the entire incident as 'terribly unfortunate.'
So the "intrusion" is alleged and the "shoots and kills" is certain?
Yes, 'terribly unfortunate' for the perp, for sure.
Not for society.
I 'allege' that Chambers was a scumbag and that Graham did the Lone Star State a favor by cleaning the gene pool a little.
How about,
"Texas Homeowner Allegedly Shoots Career Criminal?"
I just love a happy ending...
Let's see, door broken down, intruder is inside the house? No alleged about it, that was a good shoot.
But it will be just another "handgun homicide" statistic for the Brady scum to salivate about...
A robber was also fatally shot in the south side of Chicago.
Sucks to be a thug.
Well, I would say the room temperature corpse with the bullet hole in it makes the "shoots and kills" part fairly certain.
Bullard Homeowner Shoots, Kills Suspected Intruder

A Bullard man who came home Sunday during a home invasion shot and killed the alleged intruder.
Terry Graham was pulling up to his home in the 2900 block of County Road 150 at around 12:24 p.m. when he noticed an unfamiliar car was parked in his driveway and that his door has been kicked in.
Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith said the suspected burglar ran outside of Graham's house carrying two bags.
Graham, who had a gun, yelled at the man and told him to drop the bags and get on the ground because he was going to call police.
Sherriff's officials said the suspect got into his car and tried to run over Graham.
Authorities said Graham then shot and killed the suspect with a single gunshot blast.
The suspect was identified as Hiram Josha Chambers, 33, of Tyler, who was paroled July 25 after serving time for burglary of a habitation.
Smith added that when investigators arrived they discovered two loaded guns in a sack on the front seat of the suspect's car.
"It appears the man was shot in self-defense, but we are still gathering information," Smith said.
"We will investigate it like a homicide and all of the information will be turned over to the district attorney's office."

You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.

Good job! Any job worth doing is worth doing well.
When my daughters got older I taught them what to do in case someone broke into the house and they were there alone. I also taught them how to get to my gun and how to shoot it.
My youngest daughter told me she would just dial 911 and wait for the police. I knew this was coming so I explained to her how long it would take the police to get there, and I then walked her out to back of our garage and showed her the SBC box there and the little wires that connected our phone to the world.
To drive my argument home I sat her down and for 10 strait minutes I poked her semi-hard in the arm with my finger about once every second. I thought that would help show her how long she would have to wait even in a best case scenario until help arrived.
She is 13 and now has a little bolt action .410 shotgun hidden in her closet behind 2 solid wood doors that can be locked from the inside. I told all my kids that they are to stay there until they hear an adult family members voice calling them out. My wife and I can now run to the store in the evening without me worrying much.
Ok, as much.
... and save the Texas taxpayers some money.
He was smart enough to do it outside so he doesn't even have to clean up the hazardous waste.
Dial .357 before you dial 911.
Why do people still commit crimes in places like Texas? We seem to kill more vermin here than nearly any other State in the Union and yet we still get stories like this. I wonder how many of them are from California...
