The ratings are in for The 1/2 Hour News Hour on FNC. The heavily-promoted premiere delivered 499,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo and 1,478,000 total viewers.

The show gained about 170,000 demo and around 300,000 total viewers from its lead-in. Half the viewers immediately tuned out, giving The Line Up just 231,000 demo and 787,000 viewers at 10:30pm.

> SF Chronicle, Feb. 16: "If 1.5 million viewers watched -- slightly less than Stewart's nightly 1.6 million audience and more than Colbert's 1.2 million -- Surnow said, 'it would be a huge number.'

"The heavily-promoted premiere"

I had no idea it was on. Just clicking thru the channels and there was Rush Limbaugh sitting in "The Oval Office". I had to watch it.

Since it was the only new thing on at the time, I watched it. It certainly needs some tweaking if it wants viewers to stick around. I like the B.O. Magazine bit best.

It wasn't as bad as people are saying. The Ed Begley thing was dumb, but the BO magazine was funny and the other news items good- they shouldn't alternate line by line- that got to be too much.

The ACLU bits were good- maybe they could do a man on the street Thursday interview thing asking people about a particular backward liberal issue(there are many to choose from)- then when the people say "that's ridiculous" say well that's the Dem party for ya. Kinda like the ACLU thing.

I found the show the same way that you did. Of course, I would not have seen the promos because I rarely watch the ANS station anymore. The big question is whether the the show can maintain the ratings or whether the initial audience was primarily rubberneckers. Katie Colon Curic had high numbers her first night or two also before falling into the toilet.

I put it on my dvr and thought it was hillarious. Thats a pretty good turnout, but fox has plenty of loyal viewers, so I am not surpised. Fox could show paint drying on walls and still beat out any of its competitors in viewership.

I saw it and must say, I got a number of good chuckles
from it. It's done very much like the old Sat. Nite Live
Weekend Update, only with a right-winged bite. It was
refreshing to see this type of satire wrested away from
the Hollywood liberal types....JJ61

They could also go straight after liberal media bias by taking a picture- say the green helmet guy who showed up in every Hezzbollah war photo, or the new mickey mouse dolls that were "placed" into the war photos, or the polar bears that were "stranded" by "global warming" and humourously point out the facts of the pictures while pissing off the libs.

Well that being said I am a Seinfeld fan and I can honestly say that if they didn't tweak that show It would have been cut much earlier. I hope this one makes it.

I hope they make it a weekly show. It was great.

I'll bet the libs were beside themselves. Finally there is a show that mocks the stupid libs.

The book titles were funny as well the "countries that still hate us"

They could try a "pop quiz" with people on the street- "Are you concerned with govt. spending? Well how much money do we give to our "ally" Egypt every year?
A. 10 mil
B. 100 mil
C. 2 bil
